i take it back, keep your shitty Duc outta shitty mcbikefest!!!
BTW, I know ya didn't say you wanted an edge over the EX, but if one of your reasons for getting a 620 is to be more competative in other clases but still be legal for ptwins, well then yeah, whatever bike gives you that will obviously give you an edge over the EX500... I think that's what the fuss is all about.

Eh? I was just asking clayton how he thought we could walk the duc down the front straight given the hp and weight differential. Perhaps it's the lack of a fairing that evens up the field a bit. Or the exhaust clearance issue, which could certainly factor into the drive out of 12.
Sounds like all you have to do is add a fairing and modify the exhaust a bit...oops, but that would make your bike illegal for PTWN![]()
Eh, from what I've seen, fairings don't really make a noticable difference at NHIS.

I was waving buh-bye to Johnnyvalvestem going down the straight last year and going up 6. Just seemed like he was WAY down on power and we all know he keeps his stuff in good shape.
Eh, whatever, just another expensive bike to have Doc lose on before trading it for a half eaten sandwich and two more dirtbikes he won't ride.![]()

Yep a wrecked 620 Sport is what I am looking for...:
I see how it is though... If an EX can beat it then it is OK in Ptwins. Hence the GS500.
If it might have some problems beating it then All holy hell breaks loose around here!
I see how it is....:

Why is it gay to enjoy a level playing field? You said yourself you'd enjoy a hawk-only class. Well, we basically have an EX-only class. Sure, there are loopholes in the rulebook that allow other bikes in that may be more competitive. But that's not what our class is about and it seems that most people have respected that, rather than bringing in exotics like the aprilia or, say, importing a SV400.
As for the GS, we keep telling the GS riders that the EX is where it's at for PTWN. They're the bike for the class, and there are plenty for everyone. However, if they choose to ride a less competitive bike, of course more power to them. And as mentioned, if they chose to run a bit of running gear that was somewhat illegal, they'd probably get a pass at least for a while since they are riding on bikes that are already down in power. Most all of the EXs out there OTOH are PTWN legal.

Oh he will want me to get one... as soon as he KNOWS that it won't be competative.
I hope the RULES can get changed so you can only run an EX500 in PTwins.
Until then it is an open class to anything that meets the rules. GS500, Ducati 620, Harley Sportster 1000... There must be some reason the EX's do so well in it.

if i could find a very rare 98 sv650 or even rarer sv400 i would race it in PTwins. im sure power wise that the duc and the ex are about the same but i would think that the sheer handling of the duc would allow it outperform the ex.

Not at all, actually. That's what I've been saying all along. I enjoy competing against the rider, not the bike. If the 620 is more competitive, I'd rather you were riding an EX. If the 620 is less competitive, I'd rather you were riding an EX. We told the GStapo to buy EXs. We tell each other the little tricks that we know to set up the EX as well as possible. That's production class racing. Removing the bike variable and racing against the rider. It's fun.
PT has to be a bike built in the US or canada correct? i think that does away with the sv400....... although that would be badass.
LRRS EX #165 (formerly)
Think he meant Sold for Use in US or Canada. And he'd be correct.
