I doubt cost is the issue. If it's proven to make a difference, then any sane person would spend the extra money. If a helmet is Snell approved, it's Snell approved. If there is some other data to strongly suggest that one model of helmet is a problem, then it's smart to ban it. I just haven't seen any of that data.
Personally, I ride in an HJC AC-11 because it:
1. Is Snell approved for racing
2. fits my head
and
3. happened to be priced right.
Breaking news:
MC Racing is a money pit.
So is it a blanket ban over all HJC's or is it just one model?

HuckleFucker i know you are a member of Cheap Bastid Racing.....but dude isn't your head worth more than your bike? I know mine is. Just for the record you don't see anyone who races for a living using an HJC. Hmmmm i wonder why???
i dont see how they could ban the ac's if the pros wear em...![]()

Does anyone know if those guys get their helmets pulled from the regular production lines?

The AC-11 is not plastic. It's the super-duper composite that all the other "good" brands use.
LMAO...3 out of how many???? I knew yall would find a few but seriously if you think about it 90% of the people you come across in life are friggin stupid so for only 3 out of hundreds of pro racers to use them you don't see a trend there? I'm not saying i know anymore than anyone else here but if i see a trend im gonna consider that data.
Oh and yeah $600 on beer sounds about right![]()
Jason wears an "out of the box" AC-12 Carbon with HJ-09F race shield set-up.
Look for Ben with his carbon fiber AC-12 "Elbowz" replica with HJ-09F race shield set-up.
Look for Aaron with his AC-12 "Yikes III" replica with HJ-09F race shield set-up.

Those aren't the helmets they have banned though......
Maybe they should be worrying about getting the track above water for the next race weekend...
How bad is it guys... you think you're going to be racing next race weekend?
I signed up for a June 5th track day and given it's supposed to keep raining at least another week I'm going to start finding out what the refund policy is... I am 4 for 4 with rainy track days with one flood out with no refund... if this one floods out or rains the whole day I think I am done with NHIS.
If it floods out even more you'll save enough money sitting around with your thumbs up your butt to go and buy yourself a 6-pack of new Arais.
title of the thread is alittle confusing...![]()

The question was posed if any pro-riders wore HJC helmets, then you asked if they were production helmets.... I would say 'out-of-the-box' is a production helmet

Were you at the riders meeting? I was, and this issue was not addressed with any sort of professionalism whatsosever. Which helmets are banned? Is it all HJCs? All HJCs and all polycarbonate shelled helmets? HJC polycarbonate helmets but not other poly helmets?Originally posted by Paul_E_D
At some point you either trust the safety director or you don't.
If this is a safety issue that has been around for a while, then there should be plenty of time to step back, consider the facts, and issue a clear and unambiguous statement on what will and will not be considered safe for this track and why, giving those who need to purchase new helmets ample notice and guidance.
That was not done on saturday. Now, it's their track and their rules, so if they want to ban all helmets that aren't marked up the requisite 200% by an approved vendor, there'd be nothing I can do about that except bitch. But trust? No, nothing about the way that this decision was presented to us makes me trust that it was informed at all, or that the outcome is in the best interest of the racers.
