Hey everyone. I'm trying to find photos, videos, or any visual accounts from spectators, corner workers or riders from the 3 bike crash on the straight between turn 2 and 3 on the 1st lap of race#3. Someone threw a green kawasaki in front of me and before I knew it, I was Superman. 4 breaks in my wrist.... I see the surgeon Monday.
I'd love photos or a good typed description of what my bike looked like in the air upside down. How it landed, etc. Actually.... I'd love to know how well I flew too. Please let me know antything you know. Novice 722 (orange and black sv650)
Oh.... Also.... Does anyone have straight gen one sv650 forks for sale?
Thanks,
TedD.
I saw the crash from turn 3 bleachers and the green kawi hit the wall and bounce back to the center of the track. i saw your bike doing cartwheels in the air and two others going down at the same time. hope you get a speedy recovery bro.

Glad to hear you are okay. I caught the same bike and did the same thing - minus the broken bones.
I think I caught that damn kawi on the rebound from the wall.
Were you out cold? I think the guy on the kawi was trying to talk to you, but said you were non-responsive. I cannot tell you how glad I am to hear it was nothing more serious. Needless to say everyone was a little concerned when they scooped you up and took you away in the ambulance.
It put me out of commission for the rest of the weekend. Banged up, but should be okay for next race weekend.

Don't know how bad your forks are because I have no idea what your bike looks like at the moment, but have you spoken to PK first? If they look anything like that Ducati that cartwheeled through 9 then I'd say their trash.
Heal up fast Ted!! Good to hear you are already thinking about getting the bike back together!!

It's a bitch finding a doctor who can and will opperate on me in the near future. I'm meeting one today and another one tomorrow that can fit my surgery in on May 14th???

Ok, is there a hex on opening weekend or is this level of weekend attrition normal?!
Get that fixed properly, quickly, badly healed hands suck.
Inexperience and racing on pavement = DANGER. I think a lot of people underestimate it at first. They are quickly schooled. It's a lot tougher to overcome injury and get out there and go fast again than anyone realizes. This is no easy sport.
Stick with it and ride smart and it's got to one of the most rewarding, though...
Sounds like I will have my 1st opperation Monday. The doctor said.... and I quote "Because there's so much damage, I'm going to have to go in from both sides. We'll make an incision on your wrist here (on the top) and here (on the bottom). Depending on how much hardware we have to use, you may get away with just 1 opperation, but this is not an easy opperation and you should be prepared for a second one to take some hardware out if we need to." 3 months minimum recovery including rehab.
So I asked him how much it would cost if My insurance didn't cover it. He started calculating for a minute looking at the ceiling.... I got impatient and said... Like over $5,000? He laughed and said Oh 3-4 times that if everything goes well.
Fun Fun... And then he gave me more drugs.
He actually called it hardware. I found it kind of funny, but my wife didn't think so. She's told me to go to Home Depot to get some F'in hardware.
Needless to say I will still be up at the track supporting my fellow riders. Garage 16 North.
I broke both my hands when i first started up there. Your not alone!
I was also working in 2, and though I didn't see the superman (by that time, I was throwing flags left and right), I did see the aftermath. What a mess.....glad everyone made it out relatively okay.
Wookie, I didn't realize that was you! I saw you in Wal-mart the night before with Clayton, Rob and daviid, and recognized you from that, but didn't know you were on the forum.

You guys were great. Thanks so much.
I had no idea who you guys were either in Walmart. Dan seems to know everyone...after awhile I just stop asking who that was.
It is weird seeing people you know cornerworking after a crash. I saw Hammerdown and thought "what is he doing here?" I said "Hey Hammerdown...it is me wookie..." He is like "yeah, no shit...you just crashed dude. You okay?"
Duncan
I have a couple pics through the fence showing the clean up. Nothing helpful. Good luck the surgery. I hope to see you out there soon.

Duncan, that wrist looks almost EXACTLY like mine after the first race weekend of last year... and the description of what your surgery is gonna be is exactly like what I went through as well... the similarities are almost uncanny.
I ended up w/ a plate on the bottom of my ulna held in by 5 screws and one more screw that came in from the side.
Sounds like you're all set on finding a Doc, but just in case you want a second opinion I went to Dr. Uroskie at the Sports Medicine North center in Danvers MA. Sports Medicine North
He did a great job of mending me up but I DO have reduced range of motion despite a Physical Therapy... I'm gonna check with my insurance about getting the hardware taken out soon.
If ya have any questions about my experience just lemme know.
