imagine how every other club in the country feels with only amateur and expert classes haha.....
1:15's VS 1:50's in the am class....fun stuff
riiiiight. I forgot you've read my biography... you must've missed a chapter, here's a recap:
late '96, 97 and 98 raced a '96 gsxr750 mostly at summit point and 1 FUSA config'd race at pocono + numerous trackdays there. in 99 raced my hawk at summit pt and had a lot more fun. faaar fewer wannabe rossi's (or at the time doohan's) in those races. after 6 years away I'm back at it at loudon with the same old hawk.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
nope as i said:
so first year back and i dont understand why people want to be in those classes since, at the lower levels, there is still a percentage of people that seem to race the way i saw a decade ago (as with any assessment it's not universally true)
this tends to mean it's that i don't think they're the best classes to race in. you're completely entitled to your opinion about the best classes. and i'd hope we would not all agree on this as having everyone in 1 class would be rather problematic.

My head doesn't work with best, because for every best, there is an implied worst.
I like racing, and in any class. Why people would want to race faster with more power makes plenty of sense to me. NV level is not a basis for judging. Most people out there in any class are learning and don't know what they're doing. I've watch as much danger in lightweight novice races, so the factor is not machinery it's inexperienced riders and riding.

I tend to agree with Scott and Dan. I dont think they mean BEST or WORST in a quality sense of the word, but Ive seen waaayyy too many people who hop on the track for the first time, on their 600 street bike and think they're the next valentino rossi, and quickly get in over their head, either trying to keep up with guys that have been racing all year or just with too much ego. Their lines become erratic, and they start taking too many risks. Does this happen in lightweight? Of course, I could name you more than a few riders in my races I know by sight, and not to try any close passes, and make sure I have more than enough room to pass them. Then when you factor in the sheer size of some of the middleweight races, that leads to a lot of people that are taking more risks.
I cant look down on these people, I did the same thing. I did the Penguin on my 636, and by the end of the day I thought I was expert level, passing people all over the place, hammering down the straights, the only thing that knocked me down a notch was going into the bowl Steve passed me on his (I think) ex500 like I was standing still, even my horsepower couldnt make up the distance and by turn 9 he was GONE. If he hadnt done that, I probably would have taken the same attitude into the MW classes and gotten myself, and odds are, someone else into a lot of trouble.
man, its only a 5 week break between weekends ... can't wait to see what the off season brings!!!!

haha i hear ya ...personally, i love it....always have. sure there are the occasional mishaps with hero riders...but overall i wouldn't change a thing about how i got into racing
I want to be like Steve.
I am not there yet. Although I do think that I have shown some people the error of there ways on my lil Hawk at a couple trackdays.
I love passing a higher horsepower bike by out braking them into a corner, going by them and leaving them so they can't catch me. The first time I did that it was SWEET!![]()

Haha, aint that the best Doc. These set of results put a HUGE smile on my face.
In all honestly, I think the 600 pitted in. I know he passed me, but I got back around him, and then he pitted, I dont know if he slowed down or what, but I got around him and never saw him again. But seeing those two bikes I beat made me feel REAL good.
