Both Kevin and I have been banned by Degsy. I told Degsy I would respect his wishes and not call him a "slow old fat fuck anymore" but Kevin told him to piss off so he is still banned.
yes loudon suck., but it is close and the poeple are great., but when you go to a real track,. VIR or even Scummit., it is noce to race and not worry.......
as for next year., race more Mid-Ad CCS or even Wera ., already have the damn license..
and a garage was very nice., but., it sucks too pay for it., and everyone is so far apart.., if people get garages next season we should get a couple together., make it cheaper and we will be closer to screw with eachother...
and i do not think the new turn 10 would make things much safer. but i hope they are trying....![]()

If you think that pitting in the grass is better that the garage you are crazy... Do you remember the world ending rain that occured at least twice this year.. Everything we own would have been wet. If you guys want to do a pay as we go for the garages next year that is fine with me. If you want to move that is fine too.. But I will definitly be in a garage next year.. I like Dave's Idea of getting two together You can definitly get 6 bikes in a garage but I say thats it.

Not a NESR racer but I'll chime in anyway. This was my 1st year racing and I'll be back next year, I have simply had a blast. Oct. will be my first weekend as a "expert" which will most likely be a eye opening experience but I'm looking forward to the challenge and I'll get a taste of what next year will be like. Spent the first 5 race weekends not in a garage, the last two in one, I'll definately be in one next year.
I gotta say, you guys bust balls with the best of them. I've enjoyed reading the banter the last couple of months.

Just so everyone knows what's going on Degsy has banned me from the NESR site. He said this is my last post. He is pisses because Kevin has made me his #1 rider since Degsy is slow and doesn't do any of the practices, and then wornders why he is doing 1:30's. So with that being said Lew gave it a name at the bar tonight . The fucking kid talked to evey girl that walked by and the only one who talked to him was a blind, drunk girl who spoke jibberish.![]()

Bras cause cancer.
Degsy, I've been at Loudon for a few years now. I've listened to the complainers and the asslickers and observed their riding, behavior off the track, etc.
I haven't raced with other CCS clubs, but I have raced with USCRA and USGPRU.
A few of my observations:
People who worry about other riders never seem to get fast. Not a judgement, but this sport requires singular focus.
There are slow asslickers, but they seem to be having more fun than the complainers.
The fastest riders are going to win no matter what the friggin rules are. WAKE UP!!! They are the best riders, period. There is no conspiracy to keep them there. They have indeed earned their spot, usually through MANY YEARS of practice and tons of $$$$ invested.
There are no shortcuts to the top. The field has been much stronger than it is this year. In fact, there's not much depth at all in the 600 classes compared to the past 3 seasons.
The pros who ride at loudon raise the bar for everyone. Sure it's going to be tough to beat them, but they will have a more positive effect on your riding than any other factor out there. Especially as you get closer to the front.
The grass is not greener anywhere else. There is no non-profit club that I know of. There was a RRW comparo, and they all cost about the same in the end.
Have you noted how many racers have been killed this year? I think 3 at one california track alone (where the AMA races).
In short, I think your delusional! relax and have fun.

I am confused about why we have the new track layout.
Even more confused as to why it was IMPOSED on us 3/4 of the way through the season.
Some of us were in championship running, WERE, because WE spent the money, we spent the time and effort. Yes, it is us that are learning that paid the price, not the people that have run the course in years past.
In the rider's meeting, Jerry asked us to write letters to the AMA petitioning them to return to Loudon predicated opon it's safe track layout. With the next breath, Jerry announced a NEW track layout for Loudon.
In short, I must ask, WTF???

I don't have a problem with other riders being faster than me. I laugh about that all the time.
The turn 10 thing was forced in against many people's wishes. It's fine by me also, I really don't care as far as it affecting my times is concerned. I just think it is unsafe. C'mon you KNOW that had nothing to do with safety. If it did, why are they changing it back for the last weekend?
I simply don't really enjoy racing that much anymore. I did the best I could and I don't wish to plough more money into racing to get a second or two faster. I did it, enjoyed it and that's that.
I still have my opinion regarding LRRS and I walk about with a stopwatch every sat and sun morning timing practice sessions and finding out just how much the amateurs are getting screwed. i don't mention it on NEAR anymore because the tight little group always defend the club despite me having the evidence.
derek
Degs, I can relate to that, There have been many times I've considered quitting. If it's not REALLY rewarding and fun then it's not worth it.
However, walking around with a stopwatch is over the top IMO. I know from running trackdays that it's nearly impossible to run all the session exactly the same amount of time. It seems easy, but it just never happens. We're always having to compensate for one thing or another. If the experts get favored, well perhaps they should! It is racing afterall, not egalitarianism...
The Turn 10 they ran years ago was different, so bollocks to those who think it was some conspiracy to favor certain riders. Those riders do just fine on the regular track.
It is funny how upset people get by change. I think Jerry does it to jar people loose from their narrow view of laptimes as all, etc. Sure many people don't want it, and maybe that's enough reason not to do it, but it did benefit a lot of not quite so front runners like Kip. He was in 2nd place for quite a while in a race he normally wasn't running that high. Chris Bruno also finished higher than ever before. It favored riders who try hard to ride their best. I think Jerry has the experience to know that. The championship still goes to the best rider. Give me a break. You can drop one event anyway!!!
I agree that the safety issue was a ruse. Personally, I think he said that to deflect the onslaught of complainers. Was it dishonest? gray...
Agreed for the most part.
Ont eh turn 10 thing, I agree that it has nothing to do with benefiting the fastest guys because they have used it before. I know it was different back then. HOWEVER, Eric, Jeff, Scott and a couple of others ride MANY tracks, they are used to the changes and find it easier to adapt because they have spent so much time changing tracks every weekend. That is how I see changing the layout benefiting a select few more than others.
Oh, and I only walk about with a stopwatch because I time our amateurs at practice from the pit wall. I look at the stopwatch after the whole practice and check the times. Last saturday the am red got 8:50 first practice (Bryan got 3 laps in before running out of gas DOH!) and 11:08 second practice (Bryan got 6 laps in). I ballpark the expert blue practice from our pit area as I cannot see the checkered flag but it's usually well in excess of 17 minutes and the experts get at least 12 laps in. Maybe the amateur slow group should get 30 minutes as they are slower and need more time to do the same amount of laps??
Also, I see experts pass the checkered flag TWICE fairly regularly. I saw Johhny B talking to one expert last race weekend for just this kind of thing.
Many of the "lesser mortals" go to the track and race only one day. think about it, the Wood brothers and Jerry get to practice the new layout through Thursday afternoon and all day Friday in Penguin school, then saturday practice and races, before the Sunday arrivals even SEE the new layout. That favors the Wood boys, Jerry and the other couple of Penguin people (Rick Doucette needs no help, the guy is unbelievable).
I missed the checkered once and got yelled at.
Anyone can pay to practice thursday and friday? Is the Wood's advantage that it is free for them on friday? Seems to me they have committed the time and resources needed to build their business and shouldn't have to pay to ride during their own time.
Whoever said they don't pay for the track is likely mis-informed. NOTHING is free in this world.
Anyway, I'm not here to defend the Wood's beyond what is reasonable. I just haven't seen the way they run the show as abusive of power. Someone has to run it, and no one will ever agree on the best way.
Racing is a little like a frat. The newbies are just never going to get the big end of the stick. I don't think that will change.
Way too intelligent a conversation for NESR.. Someone call someone a prick before we get too serious… You both make good points but I tend to stay away from the conspiracy theory. Do the powers that be have that much free time that they are thinking up new ways to screw the people who support the series. The so called fast guys make up maybe 2% of the paying customers..

Just for the record, I'm not saying there is any conspiracy. I'm just pointing out that as the owners of the business, there is a natural tendancy to try to swing things their way as much as possible.

degs--have you done at mid-at events at VIR or Summit? They are pure nightmares when it comes to organization, screwed up schedules, same guys always winning, favoritism, etc.Originally posted by Degsy

People/riders asked to try the tite 10 configuration. There was talk on the NEAR list about it for quite a while and finally he said they'd try it. It's not something he dreamed up, it's what the riders asked for.Originally posted by legalspeed

FWIW the track will be the normal configuration for the last race weekend![]()
The most important thing to me with this racing stuff is going home with a big smile and knowing i've had alot of fun the whole weekend. I don't care if i improve any, don't care if i come in first or last, i just want to have a fun and safe weekend ,and so far every weekend has been that way for me![]()
I watch the clocks every weekend for practice, that's the only way i know when to go out seeing the speakers are never working in the grass area. The only times i've seen reduced practice time is when they split the JR/EX yellow group to odd/even groups, or if there is a red flag causing a delay.
You gots to start your stop watch when the practice starts, not when the rider leaves his pit area![]()
