Re: Rider #446 - Chris Dinoia - Slowpoke Racing
Weekend update #2: Sorry I havent been on with more of these, been a little crazy lately. Chris is out of ICU and has been more awake for a few days. He had surgery on his broken left arm finally too. One lung has made a comeback, the other lung wont give in without a fight and will need more time. He has made strides in that he can obey commands such as raising his good arm, wiggling feet, etc. I think the cracked vertabrae will heal on its own and the broken ribs as well. So we're hoping the physical stuff is in check for the most part as long as no big setbacks occur. He can't walk or talk and the biggest issue right now is his memory. He's not remembering people and many basic functions are impossible. He isn't completely alert. Enough of the bad stuff though. All things considered we are really happy at this point, and today is only 2 weeks from the crash so it's still very early days. He has come so far considering what he's been through and we're hoping the memory issue will heal up. Chris will be transported to a Boston rehab facility in next day or two hopefully to assist with that. So that's it for now...

Re: Rider #446 - Chris Dinoia - Slowpoke Racing
I don't come up on NESR often, and had some reading to do to catch up, but it's good to hear that he is making progress. As everyone else, best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
Hopefully I can make it up to the next event for the BBQ and such.

Praise God! That is good news!!! I'll def keep him in my prayers!
One of my buddies came out of a coma in the same shape. Basic commands were okay but couldn't remember most people. Remembered me but thought we were still kids and was very confused. When he did start talking everything was garbled and all the words were wrong. Basic concept was there but none of the words tied together correctly and tenses were scattered. Within about 2 weeks he started remembering things again - though never the accident - and within a month most of the basic functions were back. So yeah, just encouragement on that man!

That's impressive progress for only 2 weeks! His fitness level will be (and already has been) a big advantage to aiding in his recovery! Keep fighting Chris! You have hundreds of people fighting along with you!
