    For those curious:

Reg Arai SAI shield goes for about 54 bucks
SAI Shield w/ posts goes for about 60 bucks, plus 14 for a 5pk of tear-offs.

Not sure it's worth the extra cost n hassle.

Are your shields getting scratched from cleaning, or pitted from sand/dirt hitting it? I ask because my Arai shields have lasted the life of the helmet with the exception of the XD that I used offroad...probably in the 30-40K mile range of mostly road and some track time. I'd guess the road is more dirty than a track as far as pitting from sand and dirt goes?
Scratching, it's probably caused from how it's cleaned..it always kills me to see people at gas stations using the windshield washer bucket to clean their visors Simple cleaning methods keep the scratches away, and a protective coating makes it easy to clean most anything off with no scrubbing. I use a wet paper towel and plain water to clean it, and liquid auto wax as a protective coating.

A lot of offroad racing orgs also banned the use of tear-offs, but do allow roll-offs. Not sure how they would be on a road use helmet, but it may be worth looking into.

    Pitted, mostly. Some scratching, though.

One helmet for street & track.

Hell no, we use Saran Wrap. Well, actually I used the little clear window from the box on my birthday ice cream cake. Makes a good windscreen too Sav, in case you were needin' one.

I do the same and usually carry one of those chamwow chamois things and some water. I used to always think the same thing about using windshield washer bucket until I rode cross country. DUDE they have some huge ass bugs out west that will not come off your visor even with goo gone and 20 grit sandpaper!! So I am guilty of doing this... LOL
