So... Some new rules are in.
P4 Classes:
• Proposal to add P4 classes- passed (with exceptions and limitations).
P4 Form 3 classes will be added provisionally for 2011 season. This includes the following:
• 125cc two stroke GP bikes
• 500cc two stroke singles
• 400cc two stroke street based twins and triples (must have original frames, cylinder blocks and engine casings)
• 400cc four stroke four cylinders
• 650cc four stroke twins
• Unlimited four stroke singles
P4 includes ALL models through 1989 (exception: GS550/EX250/500 current models allowed )
Slick tires and tire warmer prohibited in p4 all classes. (Modern 125GP in NOT a P4 class)
Full rules for P4 are forthcoming
P4 Formula 3 will be run concurrently with 125GP (provisional for 2011)
Might need to go back to a stock front end but...
Any USCRA racers here want to give some input?

I'm quite surprised they opened the rules up that much. Should be interesting. Based on Formula EX you won't need to go back to stock forks, they were allowing any and all mods in that class. Whatshisname's GS500F with USD forks setup by GMD was in Formula EX for example.
Provisional for this year.
I might try it out if the schedule fits.

There are usually two races per season that immediately follow a LRRS event, just make a long weekend out of it. Also, pay attention to the no slicks/warmers rule.
Edit: Hawkers, if you want the Hawk to have a fighting chance in the USCRA, ATTEND those races. If you don't, the class will be nuked.

I need to look into the engine mod rules as well.

I am surprised that they have not had a two stroke 250 GP class similar to AMA vintage meets (Mid-Ohio comes to mind) and AHRMA.
5% over class displacement limit, otherwise have at it. 682cc max for a 650 twin. They MIGHT say no flatslides, need to see full Formula 3 restrictions before I can say for certain.)

Go on. I'm listening.
Wa wa What? they want to kill people. Slick tires and tire warmer prohibited in p4 all classes.

Heh, they are JUST THIS YEAR testing allowing the MODERN 125GP class the use of tire warmers... no word yet on if they have to be steam operated or not...
Schedule
Since the Classic is back on Father's Day weekend, only the Labor Day event will immediately follow LRRS. Note in the rules that everything has to be equipped with a belly pan, even EX500's. Turkey pans from Wal Mart won't cut it either.

The Sept. 17-18 event will have the Big Fish Little Pond Endurance Classic. We haven't decided whether it will be 2 or 3 hours yet.

The Hawk needs to be pretty stock IIRC. No aftermarket forks/ shock, no 700 motor...![]()

If the Hawk wasn't significantly changed from 89 to 90, you should be fine. Just get prior approval. They've used the same logic for other bikes in other classes. Hell, the Royal Enfield Bullet is still vintage legal as the classic version hasn't changed from the 60s.
If they run this new class the same way they run Formula 1 and 2, the only real restriction is displacement, 650cc + 5% so 682cc. There are no restrictions on forks (Formula EX has a GS500E running modern GSXR USD suspenders) etc, just the displacement cap and no slicks, and any other mods have to be things that were done 'in period' so radial mount calipers stopping CF wheels are out. Dual 6 pot Berringers however, there's period precedent for that. So far I've not seen anything to indicate this class would be clamped down on more than Formula 1/2/EX.

You should have seen the dirty looks I got when people saw I had warmers stowed in my bins when I was playing in Formula EX... wow. I didn't catch that Formula 1 was getting warmers, nice. Still can't use slicks there yet. I saw the rule update and thought they weren't allowed prior for 125s, ignored the Form 1 blivit, d-oh!
• Proposal regarding the use of tire warmers-passed with restrictions.
Tire warmers will be allowed in Modern 125GP and Formula 1 ONLY
Form. Singles will be reconsidered next year
The existing tire rule remains, the only class where slick tires are permitted is Modern 125GP. Slick tires are prohibited in
all other USCRA classes.
Hmmm, wording makes it look like they were just made legal. Nasty flare up over on the USCRA list between Joe and Shane over that after Shane made the same obsevervation that some people were using warmers already.
I'm surprised that there hasn't been a discussion over the handlebar touching the ground rule.
• Proposal regarding procedure in the event of a crash-passed.
The following language will be included in the rule book: “Any machine whose handlebars have touched the ground during
a practice session or race may NOT continue in that practice session or race.”
