and there's something rattling in the front end when i go over a bump. Sounds like some plastic's just loose, but can't figure out what
dubbya tee eff, mayte?
i'm gonna have to look into this one
oh, and my front tire was pretty deflated.. think it was like 25 ft lbs... i think the tire bead might have been broken when i went down at VIR leaving a small air leak... and i can't find my friggin pressure gauge to keep an eye on it![]()

bead on the front tire is definitely brokeni filled it up yesterday to about 40 ft/lbs and this morning she was flat.... pressure didn't even register on my digital pressure gauge

gonna have to break the seal & clean it all out. anyone have the equipment to do that? maybe i'll give Kirkers a call, since they mounted it & see what they say![]()

Kirkers.....I don't think so. Kirk was found this past winter hanging from the rafters in his shop. Killed himself...massively in debt. Sad story.
Make sure your wheel isn't bent either.

Maybe the problem is that it is a Kawasaki![]()
Just kidding. Sounds like from your crash perhaps some of the harness got pinched and possibly a short in there somewhere. I'd take a good close look and find the problem before it goes up in flames!!!!!

What about the upper fairing stay and gauges?
I know my gauges used to shake because it was missing a nut in the back.
As for flashing brake lights and the horn, have you checked fuses and wirings for a short?
i think the rattle was the throttle cables just bouncing on the upper fairing bracket. before they were held off of it by the brake fluid resevoir that i've now removed cuz of the clip-ons.
gonna check the fuses for the horn/brake lights in the AM... it's weird though, i don't know what coulda caused it other than the offing at VIR![]()

yup, blown fuse.... i put in the spare, turned the key, tried the horn, didn't work... fuse blown again... so i put in a 20 amp since that's all i had, tried that & it blew the second i turned the key, so i'm assuming the 10amp blew as soon as i turned the key as well....
gahd damnit.
the tail lights are on a separate fuse, but i'm not sure what fuse the brake lights run off ofthe brake lights still flash instead of turn on steady.
what a pain.

Mehhhhhh....
If the fuse is blowing as soon as you turn the key, then it sounds like you have a short circuit somewhere.
Which brings us to the tough part: Where is the short?
I don't know any other way to say this: you're going to have to start at one end of the bike, and check all your wiring until you see a bent/frayed/slit/pinched wire and jiggle it until you don't observe the flashing brake light, anymore.
But, if you know which components are having trouble, you have a place to start. Follow the brakelight wiring around the frame. Checkout the service manual for the wiring diagram and find out where the horn connects to.
And I know you said you went down at VIR, did any wires get ripped or damaged? Did you re-route any wires when installing the rear-sets? These are things you need to look for.
Or, you could stop messing around with this vintage beast, and buy a newer/bigger bike under warranty with that raise, and not worry about annoying problems like this
Good luck...
hehe.... you're funny... YOU called MY bike "vintage"
didn't install rearsets, installed clip-ons... i'm gonna dig around the service manual wiring diagrams for a little bit & see what i can learn, then dive into the bike itself. need to grab some spare fuses, too... pretty sure i've got a handfull of spares in my car that'll fit.

did anything get pinched when u installed the clipons? maybe some of the wires are at a new angle an wiggled loose from their connections on the clipons
FAHK!
think i found out why the fuse is blowing.... when i re-installed the front suspension i think i pinched the wires leading to the horn between the frame & the lower tripple clamp
what a pain in the ass, i gotta take it all apart again![]()
