So I just got a 2011 zx6r and over the winter will turn it into my race / track. I'll be riding it on the street until the real cold weather gets here. I have another bike so it won't get a ton of use. Anyway, it could use some new rubber and I'll be running the dunlops on the track and wondered if they'd get completely toasted on the street with some mild usage.
Any feedback is appreciated.
I have rode on a GP-A take off for a bit on the street.....actually wasn't that bad. Just gotta keep in mind that when its cool that thing will spin easy. Some mild street use won't kill that tire at all..just take a bit off the middle...you will never roll it over enough to wear down the good area's

I wouldn't recommend it. They take a long while to warm up at street speeds and if you need to stop in a hurry, you're going to have a bad day. Ask me how I know.

I'm with wacko. They are rocks cold and very pressure sensitive. In the middle of summer you could get away with it. I wouldn't do it near winter unless you like crashing.
Are you new to track riding? Something like a q2/q3 might be better for you.
I wouldn't recommend it either.. crashing on the street is not worth saving a few pennies on tires. What is your other bike and what tires does that have? If they are the same size and you don't plan to ride your other bike anyways you could temporarily have the tires swapped. Just an idea
I run them no problem on my ZX-10. Just have to ride slow for the first few miles.
Ok, I'll stick with what's on there then. They have enough meat on them to get me through. They are just squared off. My other streetbike is a thumper so unfortunately a switch is not an option. My other, other bike is my race bike which only has a 160 rear. Ijust thought about mounting a set earlier than I otherwise would.
I wouldn't. A friend who races ama pro used them on his street r6 to be cheap and recently highsided.
But good luck with that.

If you're looking for some cheap street rubber I have a set of Pirelli Diablo Rossos with a few track days on them. Plenty of meat left in the middle, would make a good street tire. PM me if you're interested.
Thanks, I am probably just going to put a set of q3's on.
