I once asked Jeff Wood how he went so fast on a EX500? He just looked at me and twisted his wrist full on the gas.. And walked away.. I have never needed to ask anyone again for advice on how to go fast.....
Just as a follow up to my post, I want to say that I'm having a lot more fun than I expected in my return to racing. This time around is different on a few counts. Firstly, I can afford it a lot better and have just acquired seriously comfy track accommodations. These two things have reduced the amount of stress generated by a long margin.
Also, nearly the whole TTD staff/family is at the track each weekend. Having a spot in a garage with good friends is awesome. Seeing old friends and meeting new ones is great too.
Racing the middleweight is proving to be less scary than expected. After a few BIG moments early on, I now feel like I know what to expect from the bike and other riders in my classes. I have a lot to learn to get the best out of the bike and that is a big motivator for me. Having Peter Kates in my corner is a huge plus. We have the bike pretty dialed for now, and he has great feedback on my riding.
But most importantly, I now have a partner that races and fully supports me and understands the sport and nature of racers. I realize that I am unique and super lucky in this regard. So a big thanks to JerseyGirl Kerry Smith for making it all come together so easily. I was only committed to these first three rounds, but all signs point to continuing this adventure.
See you in July!
Woo hoo!

Another great weekend racing the R6. I met a couple of long time forum members that I have never met in person before. Thanks Burnham and Tas for introducing yourselves. It's great to actually have human contact. LOL
The dash for cash was an awesome experience this weekend. I finally got a good start. 2 actually due to a quick red flag after a t1 incident. I got away with the lead group, but the rider ahead of me was a little off the pace and i was being held up a bit.
I couldn't see a clean pass for a few laps, and a few guys took advantage and passed me. but i finally got by in t11 and set off to reel in the pack. I was making ground on what was now the 4th place rider, but when i arrived on his wheel he looked back and saw me. He responded with a few quick laps and I couldn't get close enough to make a move.
This was the first run where i felt i could hold a good pace (low 15s) and put the bike where i wanted. Thanks to Peter Kates for the last minute shock adjustments. They were key and made finishing in the money possible. 5th place is not quite a podium, but a great result for me in such fast company at this point.
As more than a few people have pointed out, I still look like I'm riding a 250GP bike, but as I get more comfortable on the 600 I'm trying to get my chest up off the bike a little bit.
Headed to Jersey next weekend to race Isaac's SV with AHRMA and support Kerry's race efforts. She was an incredible help to me this weekend and it's nice to be able to pay her back in kind.
Congrats!

Thought I saw a second place finish for you in one of the races this weekend? It was on race monitor and it seemed a little glitchy, so maybe I was wrong.
Your supposed to start a new race report, btw. Lol

I wish you made a come-back post at the beginning of the year. I probably would have written down some thoughts on how I thought your season would go...and I would be quoting that shit right now with a big "I told you so." Not surprised in the least, I'll need to get up there one of these weekends for the hangs.
