WTB: Cheap Bike

many of you are going to find this topic weird or stupid.
however its just a little bit of my passion. I am looking to buy a working and running motorcycle. I know that it wont be anything new and it will have more miles than both my cars and bikes combined but it doesnt matter to me. I just want it to run and ride.
Im thinking a price around 600$. I do not want to spend more since I am saving for next years racing season and thinking of buying a motard as well (possibly a very nice looking wr250x that is for sale here).
Im just going through stuff on craigslist and cant really find anything in working condition. mostly parts bikes. Now im not a mechanic neither I have a lot of time in my hands thats why the working condition is a MUST.
I know there is already a thread with DEALS on Craigslist and eBay but thats something similar.
I was thinking maybe an FZR (genesis), or a CB or even GS and Katanas.
I would even go for an older cafe racer. I owned a Yamaha RD350 back in the day anyways and it was a very fun bike.
I dont know, maybe it is stupid. maybe i should just save up and stop spending my money on every idea that strikes my head.. but i cant help it..
Im not asking for something specific.. if your eyes catches something that fits my wants, if you know anyone selling/trying to get rid of something for cheap just let me know..
what the heck lets just even discuss about older bikes that we had/want/wanted/dreamed off.

just search CL w' your price range and find the cleanest bike

imho, when you're spending $600 on a bike, the risk of it grenading or becoming a money pit is high...so then it's not about which bike you buy, it's about which one was maintained the best, and has the fewest problems that may cause it to go sour
