Hahahahaha! Fucking awesome! Do yourself a favor and get the Phoenix SIM for your PC too. I'm a little over a year into it and I still suck. What is not shown in this pic is my new DX8 and 350QX quadracopter that I have been using with my GoPro. The little blue copter in the pic is the Nano CPx, then they get bigger! I haven't had the balls to fly my 5003D yet, which btw is on a huge sale near me, $250 brandy new with no battery (299 marked but matched an on-line price I got). There is a hobby shop in Foxboro that has all this shit in stock and on the shelf, dangerous place to visit.

The 500 was in the air once, with the hobby shop guy there and in control of it. I hovered it for a few seconds about a foot off the ground and then put it back down. Then he told me to come on back and he would give me lessons when the weather was better, it was slightly snowing that day. The sound of those carbon blades spooling up is scary as hell! It's a lawnmower in the air with no guard on it, crazy. So it HAS been in the air once, lol.
When you get the DX8 there are a lot of settings to go though and set up. It is good to have someone that knows whats up to help you set them, the owner of the shop toned down a lot of things in my controller to make it a bit more noob friendly. Pitch curves, throttle curves, gyro settings, head speed etc.. These are way different than the mall helis in every way. Watch some YouTube vids and see what they can do, it's nuts.

About 4 min., get extra batteries. And tail booms, and blades and landing gear.

2 different helis in every way though. The nano is a full collective pitch heli and very twitchy, much harder to fly than you think. The bigger the heli the easier, but more expensive when you crash too.

Get this sim http://www.phoenix-sim.com/ it just plugs into the back of your DX8 from the PC. Crashes on the PC don't cost anything.

Yep, that's the place. Dangerous shop to go in! On the plus side, every time I crash and need parts they have them on the shelf.

Lots of practice! Your FP heli is going to seem so boring after you get better with the nano.

You made get the heli to check. And yes it is doing the same thing. Hmmmm. Now I gotta figure out why.

So I was just messing with it to try and figure it out, and as soon as I put the throttle all the way back down the swash plate goes right back to level. But if any throttle is present, it wont go back to level automatically. I'm wondering if it is some sort of heading lock when the throttle is active? I may go to the hobby shop tomorrow to ask them what is up.

Good call, I joined up on helifreak too. Wealth of knowledge over there.
BTW, I'm edin508 over there. More lurking than anything though.

I'm lucky that the shop down the street has all this shit on the shelf and it's cheap. I tried the super glue route and it works for a little while. But I now keep 2 spares on hand in my tool box.
