Given a tip by another rider, I checked out Vanson Leathers in Fall River, Ma. If your in the area at all, check out the place. Prices are not on alot of the jackets, but if your looking for a custom made race suit, race track waranteed, this may be your place.
they usually have an open house this time of year that is worth a visit
I bought a textile/leather jacket there during the winter, the kid gave it to me for $120.00, there like 15min from my house, I should have never spend my $$$ on joe rocket crap
Sorry guys. There are no Vanson Open Houses slated for this Spring and there is talk of not doing one this Summer as well.

I was browsing their website to see if they were going to have an open house this year. Oh well. I went to last years. It was a decent time if you're into checking out customized sportbikes. They had some nice gear in their showroom too. Lot of it was very $$$ but you're paying for high quality stuff.
why no open houses this year?
We feel that they have become "boring and un original" Really they have been for the time being stopped as to not wear out the good will they have created. We were starting to hear negative things when we announced the open houses so we felt it was time for a break. There will be occasional sales posted in different papers. If I think of it I'll post the info here.
If the NESR forum wanted to do a ride to here I may be able to get a discount set up for the visit and get a small food spread arranged as well as making sure we had a pattern maker on hand to do some measurments for custom gear.
See if there is any interest and let me know

Group ride for a discount and food to boot?
Sounds good to me !
thanks for the explanation
Is Vanson still privately owned, or did they get bought?

Same owner. That will not change. Ever.
I still need to get my zippers put on. Can I still get the hookup?

Lighter and better styled.....
Lighter means less protection - not our game.
Better styled... That is a subjective thing. We make serious riding gear. Not poser junk.
I speak for myself only. Not the company on those last two points. If anyone has any suggestions of how to make our product better we really do want to know.
My top-of-the-line Dainese suit is lighter and has more modern styling to it. It seems to offer great armour protection the few times it's been tested.
That said, my next suit is a custom Vanson. The Dainese just doesn't seem to have the durability / longevity of the Vanson line. Hellyes.

My Vanson leathers were never tested, but they fit good, and looked great...Funny....I had them made in 1980, 3 colors, with lettering, 1 pc....
$650.00 Those were the days....
If only I could get a vanson suit for $650...

I don't care how heavy it is, I want lots of dead cow between me and whatever I fall onto at speed. Keep doin' what your doing. The vanson rep speaks for itself.

i love my vanson suit. i've seen mixed reviews on the customer service but, long story short. i bought a suit of the rack, sales person said it fit right even though i thought it was big. after wearing it a couple times i figured i would bring it in and get a second opinion from another sales person. they were less than impressed i was sold that suit. measured me for a custom right then and there. i had a race coming up so they let me hold on to the old suit until the custom was done. when the custom was done, i strolled in with the old suit, dropped it off and left with a full custom. didnt spend another penny. the suit i was dropping off was scarred up from a couple crashes as well. they have a customer for life now.
