Seeing we're getting kinda off topic on the other thread, I decided to make it official!
Welcome to the Beer Geek Tread!
Talk amongst yourselves....
This is what I had last night, Blue Hills Brewery's Black Hops!

i loove fin du monde, great beer, im not being super snobby this evening just some sierra nevada and some saranacs on the schedule for tonight
my previous favorite was DFH 90 min ipa
first amendment black ipa MIGHT have taken it over
they are 1-2 either way
i heard that heady topper was coming to ma soon, i really need to get my hands on one
One of my all time favs is Harpoon IPA draft beer.
It must be draft as the draft is made with the original recipe here in MA but the bottles are made by a sub contractor in NJ in a reduced time period to maximize production time.
Last night I had 2 Sam Adams draft Boston Lagers.
If you've ever been to VT or plan on it soon, you have to try switchback ale. It's a Burlington brewery and it's only on tap at local places.
I'm a loyal vt beer drinker. If its bottles, I go for magic hat or long trail usually. Hill Farmstead brewery is another on tap local beer that does some great IPA's.
I love me some Magic Hat.
I had a Berkshire Brewing Steel Rail Ale with my burger last night.
Call me a girl, by my favorite all-arounders include UFO Raspberry Hef and Sea Dog Blueberry. I could drink those all night.
Best beer I've ever had was Young's Double Chocolate Stout. It's to die for, but not easy to find and rather expensive.

Harpoon makes a chocolate stout too. If you like the berry beers, which I do too, long trail blackberry wheat is awesome.
my local shop up the street stocks so much good stuff it's ridiculous, spend a fortune every week. my usuals are...
Lagunitas Hop Stoopid
Wachusett Larry
Stone IPA
Stone Double Bastard
Stone Ruination
Pretty Things Jack D'Or
Bear Republic Racer 5 (or Racer X if avail)
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye
DFH 90min IPA
Southern Tier Unearthly
if you like dark, rich, chocolaty porters and hoppy IPAs try this mix:
1/2 Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter
1/2 Lagunitas Hop Stoopid
f'in delicious.
man, i drink way too much beer...

Switchback FTW!
First tried it at Trader Dukes in the Doubletree in S.B.
The girl bar tending described it as "an unfiltered amber ale... so, if you find some floaties, that's ok." HA!

From left to right:
Sixpoint - Diesel: An awesome dry hopped stout. Looks like motor oil!
Ommegang - Abbey Ale: A relatively inexpensive Dubbel out of NY that will give anything from Europe a run for its money.
Brasserie Dupont - Saison Dupont: One of the best examples of a Saison on the market.
Brouwerij Rodenbach - Classic Red: A Flanders Red Ale (tart/sour) that's an acquired taste but great if you like sours.
North Coast Brewing - Brother Thelonious: A Belgian Strong Dark Ale. I haven't tried it yet.
Squam Brewing - The Camp: A Holderness NH Barley Wine. I haven't tried it yet.
Candia Rd. Brewing Nepenthe Ales - Hop-ful IPA: A Manchester NH IPA that I haven't tried yet.
White Birch - Hooksett Ale: A Hooksett NH beer classified as a Belgian IPA. This is a slightly sweeter ale that's well balanced with a strong hop flavor. Probably my favorite from White Birch.

Im not sure where you heard this but I saw their bottling line last week when i went there (awesome tour BTW) and they said they only make beer and bottle beer in vermont and boston.
If any of you guys are in the area of northern RI/southern mass, I highly suggest yankee liquors blind 24 pack craft beer mix pack. They are sold in plain brown boxes and you have no idea whats in them, besides that its craft/import. I almost always get really good stuff in them. Last time i got 7 ommegang, lagunitas, harpoon, some asian beers, and a couple germans too. and its only 18$, i spend that much on most mix 12 packs.
Laguinitas IPA has been at the top of my list lately.

cool, thanksi'll ask my local shop if they can order some. sounds very similar to the Blue Hills Imperial Red IPA, that's pretty good stuff as well.
tonights prize will be a 22oz of The Audacity Of Hops by CBC and a 6pk of Snake Dog IPA from Flying Dog.
another tasty IPA i had recently is the Double-Wide from Boulevard Brewing. tons of flavor, not overly hoppy.

BTW, for anyone looking to try different beers, or wondering what other people think of a beer before buying it, I've found this site to be very helpful:

does anyone else here homebrew?
Used to. Kinda got out of it due to time constraints with school/lack of space. Will get back into when time/space/money are available- I did extract for about 10 batches then I did about 150-200 gallons with an AG setup. I'll likely automate a brew rig before I get back into- thats the kinda stuff I'm into (gadgetry) and I would really like to create repeatability in my brewing, that automation should provide.
