i've never been a fan of tattoos (the heart-shaped freckle above my ass will probably be the closest i'll ever have to one). however, i can appreciate the significance of each fine detail you put into it. it's a pretty story... something you can add to as life goes on since the book hasn't closed yet.

Looks good, V...def not a tramp stamp...those are usually tribal or purely decorative in nature, and dont necessarily have any personal significance...yours obviously does. A friend of mine owns a tat shop in Quincy called Skin Deep Tattoo Studio. Traditionally, tats contain elements that portray special meaning and events in a persons life. Should really pop when the coloring is done.

    PS...thong next time!

That's how I feel about tattoos also. To each their own, it's your body, but if you're going to have something inprinted on your skin that will stay the rest of your life, why not have it meaning something to you. Took me a LONG time (many years) to get this one. Something recently happened in my life that triggered the decision to have it done now. I had waited long enough, and suddenly what I wanted to have printed on me all came to life in my head. I saw the tattoo, just needed someone to bring it to reality. Davey did that, and it went beyond what I had expected it to look like.

I have a tatoo that means the world to me because I used to watch the show with my grandpa growing up as a kid. He was alive to see it and loved it, now that he has passed I need to have a banner done across scooby's chest or somewhere in there with the words grampa in there. If they are sentimental or just have any sort of special meaning to you they are awesome. Good luck with it and post the finished pics..

    Re: Finally...my new tattoo!

Today I feel like an Iguana. No really...my skin feels like I'm slowly transorming into a freakin LIZARD! And it's iiiiiiiiitchy. It feels good only after I put on the "Tattoo Goo" (nice smelling gel...mmmm) and even that doesn't cut it 100%. Any tricks, stuff to use to bring some relief from the itchyness? Argh...

Oh and I could use some expert hands to put on the gel on my back...not easy to reach with my hands...

ive heard a lot of bad things about tattoo goo, specifically it causing color ink to fade. you should really stick to an extremely light coat of A&D ointment or triple antibiotic ointment.

heres a slideshow of some work done by my tattoo artist Robert Reddy (aka Tattoo Bob) as I mentioned he is a master of black and white shading and single needle work

Eucerin or some other colorless/ odorless lotion.

The best part is you can apply it numerous times without much of an issue.

Trust me on this. I have a large (unfinished) piece on my back that I treated using Eucerin. If you have an itch, put a dab on your finger and gently rub it....the tatoo I mean.

What is "A&D" ointment? Triple antibiotic such as...? I guess I'll head to the pharmacy this morning and ask that to the pharmacist. Nice work indeed that your artist does.

I use Dial soap to wash and disinfect it. I will also look into Eucerin at the pharmacy, I think I have used this stuff before. The tattoo goo takes a while to appy...specially that they told me you have to spread a very thin layer ove the tattoo. Oh and...nice diversion...about the rubbing.

I have also heard bad things about the goo.

    I use Aquaphor.

A&D and Aquaphor are just petrolatum based products available at any drug store.

    Yup

the Aquaphor is much lighter (not as thick and sticky) and was recomended to me to use on my son after his surgery by the dermotologist. I always use that one. It also has no odor.

I use that stuff on everything, even as chapstick.

Looks like Aquaphor is made by Eucerin...like Bergs said. So I'll go with that. I also like the fact, as you said, that it's light, non greasy and odorless. I can't wait to put some n and get some relief.

dial soap is what ive always used to clean my new ink. triple antibiotic ointment is also called just that, its a good idea to use a lil bit of it in the day or so after getting ink done to prevent infection, then switch to A+D or eucerin to keep the ink moist and to prevent scabbing.

I think I've now found the artist to finish/fix mine up. It's only been like 16 years I've been wanting to get this taken care of.

Nice ink V. Very cool. Keep us updated with new pics when it gets worked on some more.

    Thanks Dianne!

So I got the Aquaphor stuff yesterday, and put some as soon as I walked out of the pharmacy. Instant relief from the itching. But it doesn't last for long it seems...the itching is just driving me nuts. And this is only for the outline...I'm not looking forward to what it will be once it's filled with color...I'll want to claw myself. Plus...I just realized yesterday that this will be done only one week prior to my trackday.

Good idea, but Benadryl only works if it's an allergic reaction, which tattoo isn't.

I got this in May... always said I wouldn't get one, but it has a very special meaning to me I'm actually getting some lettering below it when I go back out to Oregon (where I got it) on Thanksgiving.

    Re: Finally...my new tattoo!

Not at all... My brother and I are 10 years and 1 day apart. His birthday is May 6th, mine is May 7th, which makes us both Tauruses. So the bull represents that, his eyes are red because I've got quite the temper, but the sun reminds me to take a moment to enjoy my time in the sun. My brother has the same tattoo on his shoulder. My brother and I are best friends, we've both been the rock for each other through everything in our lives.

The only thing I want to add is the words "CHOOSE HAPPINESS", because that's my person mantra.
