No joke, just saw one of these at the dump this past weekend. A few people were gawking at it.
2021 KTM Duke 890 R
2020 BMW R1250GS Adventure Exclusive
1982 Honda CB750F Super Sport
I have a friend that took the picture tube (and the structure below it) out of one of those, and turned it into a funky computer desk.
picture tubes are awesome target practice

Any chance we can turn this into a TV forum?
I searched and didn’t see any others.
To save me from posting another “school me” thread which is starting to make me feel pretty fucking helpless.
But anyway....
I am looking to purchase two new flat screen TVs.
We currently have a 40” Sceptre tv with a Sceptre sound bar. The tv picture is fine enough, and we really only use it for firestick, but the sound sucks, even with the sound bar which is only 80w I think, compared to some I’ve been researching that have 300+ watts.
My fiancée really only cares about the sound and doesn’t necessarily want to go bigger. So maybe just buying a great sound bar is an option.
But I think if we are going to do this we should do it once and do it right. So I want to go all out and try to get as big as possible, so maybe 55-65”. But I want to be under $700.
Part of me says play it save and go Samsung, LG, etc. but even Samsung TVs have some one star reviews, complaining about some WiFi upgrade that was needed?
Hisense, TCL or whatever... ???
Also, my dads birthday is the 20th and he still has a box tv in an old school entertainment center, which creates problems because I would need to buy a tv and a giftcard for somewhere to buy a stand.
Then it’s the awkward choice of going bigger for me and feeling like a one way asshole, so maybe I’m just looking for two 50-55” TVs.
I see them at Walmart and Best Buy and BJs for 3 or 4 hundred but I just do not know anything about TVs now. I’m worried I’ll buy one and it won’t have traditional capability.
Any suggestions bros???

Meh.so I ended up buying my father a 2019 LG 50” with a Polk Audio soundbar.
However, I bought it from Best Buy in Salem NH, and I can not recommend Kenny enough. That associate provided the best customer service I can remember in a long time.
I hope to return sooner than later and buy a 55-65 for myself, and hope to deal with him again.
FWIW I have a 60” LED Samsung with a low end 5.1 Samsung sound system with a receiver (that’s like 10 years old). Works mint and I was the idiot that paid too much for the TV like 5 years ago. I have no intention of replacing it anytime soon. Newer TV’s are pretty much all better spec’d than I have for cheaper (mine was $999 at the time). I like it a lot more than the other TV’s we have.

Really tough to beat vizio quality for the price. If you ball out then Samsung.
