This pretty much does it. I want a Jeep:

that was remarkable, haha and really really fast. looked simple, go jeep!
I have a 1956 CJ5 and it's not quite that simple but it's not too far from it. They clearly didn't have any coolant, brake fluid, or electrical wiring to the lights but it takes something like 3 wires to have the thing up and running.

Nice. Yes, I do not imagine the commercial versions are very similar to the one in the clip, but it sure would be nice to have a vehicle that was simple to work on.
A friend recently showed my a neat little Suzuki mini-truck on E-bay that looked great! He told me that they are most likely not street registerable, though, as the have no air bags, ABS, or stability control.
Jeez. Have we really come to that?
Cool vid and a tribute to the simplicity of the Jeep, but very far from a road worthy vehicle.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
That must depend on the state you are in. In Vermont if the vehicle didn't come with it, you don't need it. Because of the vintage of my Jeep I don't need directional signals or seat belts. It's more unsafe than a motorcycle. The steering column is a steel tube aimed at your chest. The dashboard is steel plate if you make it that far. There isn't a roll cage. The fuel tank is directly under the drivers seat. The origional drum brakes barely do an adequate job of slowing the vehicle down despite having been rebuilt from the pedal down. There's still something wonderful about driving down the street with the windshield down and shorts on.
