The pipe was pretty tweaked, sitting in the exhaust port it was a good 30 degrees from straight. Bit of tension on the springs. Hey, look, bolts to make removing them easy. Unscrew bolts. Easy.
Must of gone in a little cross threaded when putting it back in.

Got the remains out. Thought I had cross threaded it, nope. Bolt threads were flattened off on that and a few other bolts holding the exhaust plate on. Chased the threads and pulled out a ton of gunk. Grease/dirt/old threadlock.
Reassembling shortly.

You missed an epic day riding. Weather was spot on. I mean it doesn't get much better than this. And I cleared that god forsaken rock on River Loop.
14/51 is how this machine is supposed to be geared. 14/49 is not. Although the process of fitting new junk I moved the axle forward almost a cm (rough guess). Pretty significant effect on how the bike handles. Now its even more twitchy and I'm having a hard time getting it to go where I point it.
The tusk euro bolt kit I linked earlier is probably worth the $30 they ask for it. RockyMtn has it. Fasteners are OE style; same hex & torx head combo thing going on.
I've got one of the generic bolt kits and love it, use on the dirty bikes, the road racer, etc. That KTM specific one looks slick too...
If you read the description he even notes he'll do custom kits if you ping him.
Found the right length/thread/pitch at Tractor Supply. Got a couple different versions of heads/lengths/grade.
I couldn't find any other bolts of similar size on the bike to swap. Same ones that hold the exhaust plate on, but doesn't appear to be used anywhere else. At least I didn't have to pull the engine completely to get it out, just removed 3 of the 4 engine mounting bolts. As far as the remains of the bolt, it was actually loose enough to back out with a pair of plyers. The threads on that bolt, and a couple others in that area, were all flattened out from previous work. Plus the hole I was trying to thread in was full of shit. Should be good now.
I'll order up one of those SpecBolt kits one of these days. At this point it appears I'm covered. New jets/needle to make it right for this weather on it's way too, should be here mid-week. It's currently jetted for hot weather. Don't want it running too lean.
Bummed I didn't get to go, but shit happens. Been a really rough month here at the house with sickness between me twice, the kid twice and my wife once. I really REALLY wanted to go, but was isn't in the right state of mind to get it all ready in the short timeframe I had to work due to lack of sleep and still having a hard time with my lungs. Working Saturdays sucks too.
At this point I should be good for this upcoming weekend. I'll go solo if nobody else is game. Weather was mint today and I got out on the Wee for a family gathering and to pick up those bolts. First time on two wheels in over two months.
Hopefully I'll be able to swap the rear wheel bearings this week with the extra time I have.
Getting time to go through a bike is a lot easier without a kid crawling around.

Just do it.
Ordered up a 10 pack of 44mm ID 3mm thick Viton o-rings. The exhaust had none. The exhaust plate itself is heavily gouged from the pipe being bent for so long with no gaskets, may not end up sealing even a little. I'll order a new plate if needs be.

kinda felt like you should've gotten a turn key bike with your budget...unless this was so cheap, that the condition of the pipe was irrelevant
