Beta is sending replacement tubes to my coater, super smooth process working with Dave at Motoworx/Monty's. everyone has been really responsive.
right, this issue has happened over the years with various forks. i think Kawi had an issue at one point as well. most will just change oil frequently but that coating is never coming back, eventually you get down to the raw aluminum, then you're really grinding away.
here is a snap of the wear area, it's always right at the lower clamp. black anodizing looks cool, but it's not durable enough, at least from whoever Sachs uses. Beta has not seen this issue with the newer Race Edition tubes, which are coated differently.

Just curious - Did you buy this bike through Dave Dassault, at Motoworx, or through Monty's? I thought that Dave was working through Motoworx, and I am unfamiliar with Dave's current affiliation. I met Dave at a Knox club ride a couple of months ago. He had (his daughter's?) X-Trainer, and a new 200 for test rides. Unfortunately, I met him right after a guy had crashed the 200 pretty hard, so I did not ask to try it. I am on the fence/interested in a X-Trainer, or a 200...
replacement tubes are back from the coater ... waiting on one more cookie then it's time to boogie

Get that thing back together. It’s time to get back out there.
Horse is ready but this cowboy has been sidelined since October. It’s been a long dusty road to recovery.
i know, sucks ... what percent are you at these days? hope close to 100 ... still need to grab some sudds, i've barely swilled with Mr. White this winter. lame.
rock 'n roll ! conditions have been changing fast ... although WET out this way

...and the cookie arrived. giving an RK Tek head a try this season, i went for the 0-4,000 ft / 91 pump cut. supposed to give a nice bump in power across the board.
interesting patterns

a billet head insert from RK Tek
the 125/200cc RRs have interchangeable inserts from the factory, like the S3 head i ran on the 250 to boost compression.

RK says the "patented chamber design broadens the power band and increases fuel economy". they've been using that machining process with success in the sled world for years. lots of happy customers it seems. plus they offer a money back guarantee should you not like it.
no, i wouldn't imagine squish is changing too drastically, i'm only going from 13.5:1 > 13.9:1 comp ratio ... i should check squish before/after but ... prob won'tjust want to button her back up and add fire.
i'll take pics of the OEM insert vs RK when i have the head off.

I was looking into a RK head for the YZX. Curious to hear your thoughts on their insert.
Kels is active on the KTMTalk forum if you want to ask him about it. Note, it's a near religious topic for him...in many ways.

i was going to try one on the 250 but was real happy with the S3 setup. some 300 owners didn't seem to like the RK head but every report i've read on the little bike seem to be all positive. not a massive change, but incremental power improvement. dig it.
yes, highly debated product across the board. here is the patent for anyone interested: Apparatus and method for engine head
gotta get my ass in gear! kids keep bugging me to get the bikes ready ... been working on the Cobra first
