Yea, its a hard thing to visulize and get down but I saw a pic of your feet and could tell it was a lot closer than mine and you don't look like Dumbo with his feet out like me????
I did a thing where you can sit on the bike put the middle of your foot on the peg and then rotate you knee out....so does your foot
If you are on the balls of your feet... then the toe and foot doesn't follow but just Pivot's heel comes in and touches the plate.....![]()

Yeah based on what Denno and I talked about, what Ken said, the pics, etc... I do know where my foot should be but in reality I put it up and out of the way more than it needs to be... this adds discomfort and decreases endurance...
I don't think any of my pics really show how far I move it up though it's too dark in that region when the bike is leaned over.

Actually I think you can kind of see in this photo that Denno has his out on the peg a bit more whereas I tuck mine up VERY far... (part of what looks like my boot isn't actually, it's the spools and chain adjusters)
I have always just been worried about dragging toes and it causing the rear to unweight or something

That position gives good traction on the peg, but when you want to carry really big corner speed and lean angle, your foot is in the way, and it needs to get tucked in tighter against the frame. I definitely use that position, but if I rode like that through T2 or T9 at Loudon, half my foot would be gone.
IMO one should do what is necessary to gain the clearance you need. Thinking too much about it won't help.

There are exceptions...always. I was dragging my toe during one particularly fast session last week in NJ. This really wasn't a problem, as Denno says; the foot is flexible. If you were at race pace on a 125 (which Paul is accustomed to), then by all means, you would have to find a poaition that gets your foot out of the way! Paul, did you have trouble on Tyler's 636?

lets talk about the outside foot position, seriously - I dont like hooking my heel on the peg as i cant seem to move as fluidly in a quick flip - im still on the ball of my foot, just i pull up to the foot bracket

Denno I am on the ball of my foot on the outside as well... it looks like we both do pretty much the same thing with the outside foot except you are a little more on the ball of your foot than me (me on your bike, you on mine):
I am not sure if this is correct but it's comfortable for me.
People have told me that you should have the sole of your foot or slightly farther back on the peg in order to press out on it and 'feel what the rear tire is doing' but I am not sure if that would be comfortable for me and/or be necessary at my skill level.
I think my rearsets/pegs are a little higher than on your 636 though... not sure.

I use the stock 636 pegs (fold, please). So, I suspect my pegs are a bit lower than Woodcrafts. I even have the peg feelers on, and I rarely touch them. My boot touches first.
Outside foot placement depends on whether I'm shifting mid-corner. The ideal placement is with the peg at the ball of my foot so I can straighten my ankle to press my knee into the gas tank for support.

Seriously, there are a lot of guys who know more than I do about the ultra-complex aspects of track riding. I just have a lot of track experience, I think about it a lot and try real hard to convey in a clear way what I do know (hopefully to those that want to hear it).
Yea, the pics say it all.....keeping the balls of your feet over the peg is where its at. If look close you can see my foot placement is Below the A-star symbol on the shoe...

I can buy magnesium ones but i don't think they will fly with Tony..due to sparks
