Here's my take on your first few posts.
You want a bike.
You want to be cool.
Your avitar and screen name are to be COOL.
So don't chalk us up to old cranky men and discard our advice.
You want a full dresser, or a BossHoss.
>>>>NOW really: <<<<
Everyone who's told you about a liter or bigger "crotch rocket" is shoveling it back at you IMHO. Unless your 6'5" and 230 or so no stretched frame needed by you.
Its okay to ask for advice, but be real Master 15, guns and "DrunkDriver" didn't impress a few of us........
Stay in school.
Get decent grades so you can go to college and bang some chicks.
Forget the bike until you grow up some more............
and yes, I was 15 once too, except I didn't expect to be whizzing around biking the day I got my license. You'll hit something....................MARK MY WORDS...........so you'll want to wait for a bit before you get the bike. Hit something for your "get it out of your system; FIRST accident" with an american boat like a Lincoln...........
hope you don't kill your friends or someone else, then step up and be responsible...............
You asked for advice................you got IT, except you'll think I'm putting you down.....................
Print this out and keep it.
Save your life and your skin for when it really matters............during the REST of your life!
BTW the dresser and BossHoss is NOT a first bike....

Who do you think you are talking down to me like this? You may be smart and a few years older but I really don't think your words are worth of becomming one of my life lessons....
You talk about me being cocky and having an ego, I don't go around forcing repetitive wisdom on people.
Plenty of people have said the same thing but gave me a little respect and I have thanked them for it. I am much more likely to listen. Just throw a little courtesy my way, fake it if you must.
I don't think I am over reacting, just standing up for myself. You say you are an adult but unless you act mature, you're no better then me and have no right to call me immature. Ridiculous.
I would love to take the MSF, I really would. They wont let me.
You are all going to say I am not listening to any of the advise given but I am. All but this post.
No good can come of this.
I think the whole point you are missing is.........you are inexperienced.
Plow all the driveways you want. Go blow donuts in an 88 Chevy s-10 in an icy parking lot.
It means jack squat when you get on the road. Nadda, zip, zero, zilch, nothing.
Do yourself a favor, and get a car, and drive it for a few years. Get in a few accidents, run yourself off the road, it WILL happen, count on it. You NEED real live, on road experience, it seriously is a madhouse on the road. People are dumb, so dumb it will boggle your mind. I'm all of 23 in several weeks and have nearly 7 years of driving experience. I've been run off the road once, and t-boned by people running red lights TWICE.
I'm not talking down to you, I'm just talking from personal experience, and that experience is that at 15, I knew everything, and anyone who didnt agree with me was a complete moron, or just screwing with me. Were there things I wanted to do at 15/16 that I wasnt allowed to do? Sure. Am I glad I didnt get the chance to do them? Absolutely, I'd likely be dead if I had run free like I wanted.
You'll be a new driver, odds are heavily stacked against you, no matter how ready you THINK you are for it. We arent talking down to you, we are just talking from experience. Is 7 years of experience alot? Not likely. Is it more than your 0 years of experience? Yup.
You have your WHOLE life ahead of you, keep that in mind. Dont rush it.
I am not talking about experience, that has been covered.
I am talking about the decency of a little respect.
I value and listen to your advise and experience from the majority of you. Hope you will believe me soon.

Spottswoode: Oh, I am serious. Look, [points to his own face] this is my serious face.
I wish I had the money to drop $8K on a bike when I was 15. You should call an insurance agent and get a quote for these potential bikes and see how that going to affect your budget.
I will say you have good taste in bikes. I also plan on picking up a CBR600RR, but for next season.
Also, take a guess what my starter bike was.

Dare I say SV?
Edit: Yeah, the profile says SV. Might not be your first bike though.
How you like it?
Its a great bike, its not something you'll out grow or out ride. No matter what you get, in couple years or less, you'll want something different. I rode it 3 seasons, sold it,and bought a dirtbike. I ended up riding a few enduros this summer, maybe shoot for the overall in the series next season. Hopefully I'll have enough spare time to justify a new sportbike next season.
