Some folks squeeze a mini plug in the body of the camera. Others just let the mic plug dangle a short distance out of the camera. If you go for adding the plug w/in the body, i'd suggest using the front near the LED to avoid interference w/ some types of mounts.

170 is 170. wide angle pushes out the center a bit more and open the sides up. regardless where the pics are taken, obvious difference.
Its ok if you dont agree. I have played with gopros for about 4 years now and I can tell the differnce, thats all that matters.... thanks for the eye rolling bro
I think the difference is the GP has a more fish-eye lens while the Contour has a more rectilinear lens.
Personally I prefer a more rectilinear lens as it distorts less. It does mean you give up some FOV though. Although the contour lens is still distorted. So one could argue that if you are going to have the distortion, you might as well get the coverage.
try this
contour
GP wide
look at red hat on right. i know its dark but differnce yes. Its like wide screen instedd of standard on a DVD

how are you mounting both cameras lenses in the exact same position, the Contour lens is further forward from the mounting stud by an inch

Since i knew this was coming i held it by hand.
i also made sure i had both lense sitting in the same spot right on my gas cap. i did that so that when u replied i would not be full of shit.
i do appriciate you making sure i knew what i was doing but your sarcasm sucks.
i am just trying to provide info for people who are looking at cameras....
always one in the group
Hero2 motorsport edition and LCD pack are on the way
'02 F4i
I really want the remote function. that would make a huge difference..... no more stopping and wasting cards
Plus shorter take from the camera; less footage to sort through to get to the good stuff. (I am slowly learning to turn my contour off in the straights.)
i think the Gp i was using is the first wideangle. i think its a 960 not 1080. the pic on contour is pretty good. i would agree on crisp. in would be better in light tho
I noticed in someone's FS thread that their Contour says 135 degree lens. I also noticed the difference in Jtryz's video thread, which is why I asked about it in that thread.
What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.
The ContourGPS is spec'ed at 135*. The Roam and + are both spec'ed at 170*.
°°°° Cool! ... I will now forget that in about 5 minutes!
I do not know the GP lineup very well. But the specs say the 960 is 170° in all modes. The Hero and Hero2 FOV depends on the recording mode, supposedly.
Well just FYI...REI has a 20% off any single item coupon on their front page. They have the GoPro Hero2 outdoor edition only. But even after adding the suction cup accessory, the total comes $286.76 shipped. A little cheaper than most places right now and you are getting more mounting options.
Looks like you have to be an REI member to use that.
No one has mentioned this yet. http://www.gobandit.com/

The pair will go for $419 and $319, respectively.![]()
well, GoPro has better marketing, so I bought one
I hardly ever pay retail for something, and I didn't plan on doing it now, so I bought the Hero HD 1 for $180, NIB off of craigslist
you can get the remote control and LCD bacpac for the hero 1 as well, so the money saved on a hero 1 will free up cash for those accessories
