Have you checked the throttle position sensor? Does it run worse the faster it spins (more rpm), or the more you open the throttle? It should be an easy test to measure the resistance with a multimeter.

do these bikes have any kind of manifold pressure sensor? airbox pressure? I would assume to make the best hp with the ram air they would...maybe something is awry with yours. Seeing as it seems to rev ok freely, but not when actually moving.
will it get to 8k or is there something like a soft-limiter that is keeping you from reaching it? could be a neutral safety switch or something lame like that too.
Yes they do have MAP sensors AFAIK. Mine has one, I think most do as opposed to a MAF sensor due to size & complexity.
But a failure in that sensor should trip the FI light, and then Kham should be able to read a code to figure out which sensor is bad.
When you're done ruining this bike I'll give you $200 for it.
