Looking for boots, Anyone have good suggestions?

I am looking to pick up a pair of boots to ride in. I usually wear a pair of old Army boots, but I am looking for something with a little more protection. I was recently reading a random thread and heard work boots referred to as leather ballet slippers because of how little protection they provide in a crash. I thought now would be as good a time as any to pick up a good pair of boots. I was looking at the Oxtar Evo Ti and the Sidi Vertigo.

Anyone have good reasons or preferences either way?

Anyone have something else i should look at?

if you're lookin at those two, another pair that are similar are the Alpinestars SMX plus.

that's what i've got & only have 2 complaints.... the eyelets that the laces go through are starting to rust from my sweat, and they squeak a little when you're walkin around.

Other than those two non-issues, they're great boots, comfortable to ride in and great protection (i've said it before & i'll say it again... if i wasn't wearing good boots at the beginning of the year I firmly believe my ankle would have been broken in a fall when my bike landed on my leg.)

I have a pair of the Sidi Vertigo and would HIGHLY recommend them. Good protection and comfortable for walking around in.
The vent does let in some air, depends on the angle of your feet when riding. Replace the inner sole pad with something better. You can get a good replacement sole at any sport shoe shop.

Alpinestars GPS boots, they are a street/track day boot, I have them in the waterproof trim. Great bang for buck, comfortable and low key enough you can wear them out on a ride, go to dinner and not look like a power ranger.

i have sidi vertebra 2 tepor boots and totally love them. they are very comfortable, but can be warm on really hot days if you're not moving on the bike. i was concerned about how hot they might be, but it hasn't been a major issue for me at all. they also kept my feet reasonably warm on cold days last fall/winter.

Sidi's sliders and armor screw in when many others use velcro. I always thought that was a plus. I have a pair of the (pre vertigo) Vertebra Race and love them.

Holy shit! That looks like a very good value!

Too bad I would have to do it mail order. I have flat feet and big legs so it is difficult to buy any type of footwear without trying it on first. For $100 I might risk having to pay return shipping.
