Well my seat is also about 35.5 inches high, so that could be a reason. But like I say, backing up is a pain, and I usually only put one foot down at lights and stop signs.

What on earth does the fact that someone races have to do with things like slow maneuvers, being able to flat foot a bike, stopping, or backing up??

Nothing, it's the de facto defense mechanism used on all motorcycle forums world wide.

I race an EX500. Thats barely a step up from a bicycle. It might as well have training wheels on it.

I just figured if you can get out there and race you at least have a good capability on a motorcycle.....

but i forgot its like nascar kinda just because they take lefts at high speed doesnt mean they know how to drive

Dont have a clue, just know I cant flat foot both feet at the same time. Backing the bike up I'm generally on tiptoe, and like I say, when I come to a stop I only put one foot down.

    Re: lowering a bike?

Those GS's handle like shopping carts at low speed. I recently rode a '96 for about 25 miles and it is HORRIBLE. New tires helped a bit, but it just wants to pull the bars either way from the crowning in the road.

Try shaving the seat and practice practice practice. Track days should be the least of your concerns (imho) if you can't keep the bike upright.

I have a 32 inch inseam and ride a stock height KLR650 every day in traffic, on rough dirt roads and state roads. I very rarely put two feet down just because I can't touch with two.

Has the KLR ever been down?

Not yet, in 10k. (knocks on wood)

    Re: lowering a bike?

Maybe someone should have bought a bike that fit. Not "the pretty one".

    Re: lowering a bike?

    JUST KIDDING!!!!

I think Silverghost is trying to lead people down the right path, that being, If you can't ride your bike what good is it? Lowering it is a good thing for some people.

Correct me if I am wrong but lowering it correctly will minimize the negative effects that lowering the bike might have.

I love these threads where the wisdom is spooned out... I eat it up.

Hey PK. Can I talk you into coming up to Vermont for a seminar? I bet I can get a good group together to make it worth your while.
