Ya we are hoping for good road conditions but this is NE so anything can happen. I was just out on the Mohawk trail yesterday and the roads were pretty good. So hopefully we don't get much more snow. a few rain storms will help too
a few of us a planing on riding the route the weekend before and check it out.
As for ridin in a big group its cool looking but overall a pain, we wont be far apart so we will be together at all the stops.
Usually by the end of March we are in pretty good shape as far as road conditions go. The weather can be a bit chilly but remember we are meeting around 10-10:30 it will warm up. As long as the sun is up and shinin' i for one will roll with it. Let's roll. lol

You guys ride with tank bags or backpacks? I normally do not start my season so early and wonder how many layers to wear.
[QUOTE=Subee13;873119 I do not have any cold weather gear. [/QUOTE]
Just put on another sweater and the scarf your mom gave you for christmas.HAHAHA

Lol, maybe we can have a local ride.. to lunch... hahahaa. This is such a big long ride for me, I'm a little worried. I definitely won't have the time to ride this "new to me" bike much before the actual ride... and of course the problem of me most likely playing catchup to the caravan
I'm most worried about the tires handling the road actually.. since I am told they are "track tires" that are street legal.. so I hope it's warm enough on the road to keep 'em sticky. At the end of the season last year my michelin's got a little slippery on me within the first 10 mins of me setting off in the mornings..
Whenever I head out even to work, I end up using a backpack so I can throw in an extra layer of clothes.. I may have to get a tank bag eventually, or figure out how to secure it to the tail section of the bike.
I really don't think anybody's gonna be pushing that hard. Nice easy pace. Just check the map and keep in contact and you will catch up. If you are slidin' so is everybody. Let the tires warmup before you ask too much of them.

This is probably a difficult question to answer, but is there any idea when the group might be getting to Keene, NH?? I live about a half an hour from there, so it doesn't make much sense to trek out to the very beginning of the ride, but I would love to meet up and do that next part of the ride to North Adams and the Mohawk Trail. Thoughts?
Thanks,
B

Keen is ~60 miles from the start point. I do not know the area but at a 60mph average it will be 1 hour from 10:45 so right before noonish/around noon I would think.
Sounds about right, thanks.
Next Question: the ride route says "Arrive at Keene"...since I am new to the forum and have not done one of your group rides, does this mean that there is a stopping/meeting place in Keene? Or is this just a reference point? If there is a place that everyone is planning on stopping, I can find you all there. Just let me know the location, I know Keene pretty well.
Thanks!

Well i'm leading the second group and am going to be on a brand new bike that i havn't even ridden yet, its still at the dealership. So I'm not going to be rippin it, I will behave. I'm sure we wont be obeying the speed limit but nothing to crazy first ride.
As for that tire, it might be a good idea to get a road tire, that thing will not work well with any water on the road.
Last year i just strapped a backpack to my rear seat with a few bungee cords. This year i'm gettin a bigger tail bag.

The plan is to arrive at Keene @ Noonish and see how the first 60 miles goes. We will stop in keene for a few minutes to see how everyone feels about riding and see if theres anything wrong with anyones bike. We will ride to the most central looking place in Keene so look out for a large ass group of bikes and then introduce youself. Shoot me your # so i can bluetooth you when we are all most there
Is there a rain date set for this?

My recommendation for a stopping place in Keene would be on Rt. 12 before you actually get into Keene, or at the Cumberland Farms Gas Station in Keene. It's on the right hand side on Main Street. I wouldn't go all the way up to Roxbury St. as your directions list, because that intersection is really crazy and not a good place to stay together in a group. Just an FYI.

Ken put on your gameface, grab a wrench, some WD40, some duct tape, and get your ass over there!
