Im just curious as to what are the best lap times a basically stock SV 1st Gen has run at LRRS. Nothing greater done to the motor except say-pipe,filter,and jet kit. I have no Idea of what Ricky D has done to his bikes and I believe Oreo is pretty much stock for his 2nd gen with no major work done. I would figure if you touch a 1:19.999 on a basically stock SV you are pretty damn fast.

Oreo is well into the 17s on a more or less stock bike. Not sure but he may have been into the 16s...
Dude is damn fast.
I'm happy running a stock motor in the mid 19s.. Although I figure 18s are in the cards this year. Certainly 17s are doable on a stock motor with some suspension work. You are not getting there without suspension work in my book. Unless you're some sort of freak!!![]()
The older I get the Faster I wuz
When I was researching for the threshold to advance to EX, the fastest lap I could find for Doucette in LWSS was a 1:16.834. I only went as far back as the latest track change, and I could have missed something.

My fastest on stock forks with emulators was 22.0. Changing to cartridge forks brought me to 21.0 in a weekend, but I attribute that to added confidence. Anyone recall what times were up front in the MWPT class when it was around? Those were stock bikes!

Ricky did a 17.273 in MWPT in 2011 and Mark Dages did 17s also.

1.18.0 was as fast as i could get one but others have gotten a couple more seconds. Jeff wood got one into the high 12's but i think it was built to the hilt
Speaking of Jeff Wood...there was a grey 2nd gen SV over in the Penguin garage last Friday, sporting white plates with a black "9" on them...

J Wood is not human at NHMS. Didn't he take an ex500 out a few years back and do some crazy lap time?

It makes me sad that some people can go faster on their stock bikes than I can on a superbike![]()

it makes me sad that Jeff could probably lap faster on a Schwinn than I can on my racebike

Put Jeff Wood on a 100% completely showroom stock bike and with the right tires I bet he could get it into the 16's pretty quickly.
As far as current LRRS racers, Ricky could probably get one into the low 17's easy enough.
EDIT: MWPT post above confirms.
Bet I could get one into the 19's........ maybe 18's, but that's probably pushing it.
17.9 I believe. Maybe 17.7? Think it was one of Data Temple's PTwins bikes.

Wirelessly posted (GS3)
I've done 18s on mine.
Slicks
Gsxr front end with a penske shock in the back
The engine has the usual (pipe, jet kit, airfilter) and the can swap. It also has 60k+ on the engine.
My set up with a fresh engine should be able to get me into the 17s or even 16s. 14s with some motor work. This is all assuming I had any talent.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

So to take this a little further .........do you guys think that when you get a stock sv into the teens (17-18) that you, at that point- "reached the capabilities of that machine"
Its tough to think about but my best is a 1:23.7 and I can't fathom knocking say 4 sec off....in fact I am going backwards. Hats off to you guys for showing guys like me that it is possible. I was talking with some fellow amateurs last event and it really is something else to see you guys doing what you are with what you have.
And where the hell is Jeff Wood btw???????

I did a couple 20's and some 21's on an sv with emulators and a Penske. Stock motor and stock exhaust.
1:19 on an SV is moving.
Seth H. hit a 15.9 last weekend in Thunderbike on a basically stock SV. old stock motor, the suspension is set up for him but nothing crazy, no GSX-R forks not sure about the internals.
I second Painfullyslow(which, by the way, your name no longer make sense) it is sad when a bike/rider with much less power are way faster. Something to shoot for though.

Michael's (Painfully Slow) avatar is GSXR forks, but it was Mike Kurtz that said he did 22's on stock forks and 21's with cartridges.
I hit 19's last year with stock lower fork legs (uppers were from a ZX-6R) & GMD-worked cartridges and stock triples.
I have since converted to a GSXR front end and R6 radial calipers.
