I don't know what HF's process is.
*My* process will be to buy a replacement from somewhere else.
That was the 8mm, BTW.

The right choice because the direct replacement would be made the same way and in the same place. That didn't work the first time, so try something else.
Problem is that so many brands are now made "overseas", and good USA or Germany tools are getting harder to source.
Mayhew is still made in western MA, as far as I know. For tools like that they may not have them, so I like Wiha and Wera products for hex, Torx, and Torx Plus drivers.

8mm allen, 90ft/lbs?! What's the bolt/application?
Closer detail:
Glad we're having this conversation. Discovered operator error.
The application is the rear axle nut on a ZX1000. My bendy-bar deflection torque wrench only goes to 60 nm, so I went and got my clicker. I re-checked the specs, and thought I read 98 foot-pounds. The spec is 98 Newton meters, which is 72 foot-pounds.
Ooops.
The snapped hex probably saved me from a very, very large repair expense.

I'm still confused. The pinch bolt which I assume is what you are tightening is 64nm or 50ftlbs. Much more reasonable for an 8mm socket. 98nm is the nut itself.
8mm hex key likely to be an M10 bolt
I haven't experienced a failure like yours, however i'm guessing subliminally it's the reason why, when possible, i've switched to "impact rated" bits when purchasing from HF. no proof, but assuming would be stronger than the standard Pittsburg.
This screw extractor set is $30 in store today only. I think I'm gonna pick it up: https://www.harborfreight.com/multis...ece-58699.html
This guy does a lot of tool reviews. He’s found the supplier for a lot of HF tools.

Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I had the opposite experience once.
I was tightening a camshaft retainer bolt inside the cylinder head of my friend's Subaru.
He looks up the torque spec & tells me "12 foot pounds".
I get it up to 9 and it stops going any higher....
I ask him to read the spec again...
"12 foot lbs"...
I turn it some more and it doesn't go higher...
I ask him again...
"12 ft lbs"....
I turn more... still nothing... I look at him, he looks at me... okay... I go 1/100th of a turn further... *SNAP*!!!...
I look at him, looks back at the spec....
"*SIGH*... inch pounds".

My KTM manuals list all torque values in Nm and ft-lbs, which is really annoying when you are dealing with lots of M5 and M6 bolts. Why can't you just list small fasteners in in-lb??
I would use Nm but my torque wrenches all have decimal Nm values on them including the increment on the twist handle, so it's equally time consuming to use Nm as it is to just convert ft-lbs to in-lbs.

Went to HF to swap out a busted cheapo torque wrench and an Icon speed collar impact extension; I use both to swap wheels on my mini toy hauler I keep in a storage unit. Was a quick swap with no money out of pocket so even if the tools don't last, the lifetime warranty thing is nice and easy.
I picked it up but haven't used it yet. My take is that for $30 this is a high quality extractor set backed by lifetime warranty. I'll have to report back, hopefully I can use it this weekend.
only tool I have from HF is my farm jack I ordered online last year, used it a couple times to lift logs

just got one of these plastic creepers from the new HF they put in my town not long ago...still have my old wood creeper with metal casters as well...now when my 7yo daughter helps me do oil changes on the car we both have one...also rolls much nicer, has handles, has a little recessed area for tools and screws, the head pad is cleaner...hoping it lasts

I bought a blue one of those around Christmas when it was discounted pretty heavily to replace my old Craftsman creeper that had an MDF board as support which split a long time ago making it a pain to use. It's been working great despite me being a little over its stated capacity. As far as the head pad being cleaner, mine was until I was draining oil out of one of our vehicles and it burped out a bubble that sprayed the side of my face and got the pad!
