It's been years that I wanted to do this. Got my first one as most of you know on the back of my neck. I always wanted one on my back...so I finally made the jump. Yesterday was my first apointment with the artist, I went to New Britain CT to "Ace of Spades". My new guy is Davey, he does excellent work. It took him nearly 2 hours to draw the design. Altho he kept me next to him to guide him on what I wanted, I really didn't have to say much. I showed him just a few images on Google to give him an idea to start with, and he did the rest. I was amazed as he was drawing, and didn't have anything but good to say about it. Altho it's MUCH bigger than what I wanted, I must say. I went in there thinking I'd get something about 3-4 inches high and the width of my back (tramp stamp...lol)...I ended up with HALF of my back being tattooed...LOL So it took him another 2 hours to do the outline. I'm going back for more sessions to do the color and shadows.
Every single element in this tattoo has meaning to me. The dagger in the heart, along with the vines with thorns is for many heartaches and pains. The flames represent the fire inside of me, passion, strength, strong will. The vines becoming flowery and with leaves are for life, joy, renew...and the two butterflies near my heart are my daughters. Both will have each their own colors, one with shades of green (my oldest favorite color) and the other one with dark pink shades (for my youngest favorite color). The dagger stone will be my birth stone, garnet (bloody red).
I am still trying to get used to the size...but I am happy. I cannot wait to see it with full colors. And yeah...it hurts...lol Today it feels like a real bad sunburn. Oweeeee...

Nice work I can't wait to see the finished product.
Nope. The guy and one of his co-worker told me a tramp stamp is more like all those tattoos you see on every girl at every corner of the streets, lower back, small, and when wearing low rise jeans, you can see it all. Typically takes just an hour or two to tattoo.
This one covers half my back...it's no tramp stamp anymore. It's a big piece of work. The guy said that he's "hoping" to have it finish with another 4 hour session, but he said it might require a third session.

That is really beautiful! I think you'll be glad you went with the larger size. Definitely post up pics when the color is done. I've been wanting take the jump and get one that covers the better part of my back and seeing yours makes me, quite frankly . . . jealous![]()

That looks like he went deep.

I look forward to seeing the finished product if it looks that good with just the outline.

looks good, but were the flames an after thought? I only ask because its the only part of the tattoo that isn't symmetrical. I am not knocking the work just asking.
Might as well be a bullseye.

Nope...actually the flames were to be part of it from the beginning...that, and the 2 butterflies. Flames shouldn't be symmetrical, IMO. I like the fact there is elements that that just flow "freely", and is not necessarily the same on both sides.
Shoot straight!![]()
