Thanks to EVERYONE who came out!!!!!!
We started the morning off right on time with 15 bikes, everyone fueled and ready to go. A rather uneventful ride northward taking rte 16 to 153 through wakefield, effingham and the likes. Only a short 10 minute spurt of light rain, not even enough to break out the wet gear.
We made our way up to HMR, and we decided it would be best to break the group up into teams of 3 and 4 to spread the traffic around and let people 'ride their ride' so to speak. One minor incident where one of the group mis-judged a corner and rode off into the forest... Only cosmetic damage on his borrowed bike
We headed for Pinkham Notch next... Never have i seen fog so thick so randomly on Rte 16!!!! Some of the guys chose to rip it... I only imagined a moose popping out in the fog so I kept it in double digits
Up Mt. Washington we went. Conditions were fairly favorable today... Temp was 63 at the summit, with a 45MPH wind, and about 50 feet visibility. We enjoyed a short lunch in the cafe at the summit before coming down.
North and East we headed to Evans Notch. Unfortunately the Notch was engulfed with low clouds so the ride was not as enjoyable as it could have been, and at the end of 113 we hit our one and only downpour.
Given the time, and the radar reports, we decided to can Bear Notch and the Kancamagus, and stay East as the storms were coming from the west. We headed up 113 into Brownfield, ME, then across Rte 160 down to 25 over to Ossipee.
With a final top off there we slabbed it down Rte 16 home. I totaled over 325 miles for the day so I know some of the MA guys (and girls) will be close to 400!!
Congrats to NinjaJim for breaking 20k miles on his bike (600 miles ahead of me!)
We did get pics of the entire group on top of MT Washington. I'm hoping to get them from the riders soon to be posted!!
50 feet visibility at the summit? you wish! I got pics to prove it, haha, ill post em in a bit.
Great ride today, glad I was able to make it. Thanks for settin it up and leadin chris, and thanks stiggy and jim for leadin as well.
Extremely sore, but well worth it!
Thanks Leaf, The ride went fairly well today. I am glad everyone had a safe and fun day. For those who needed to acquire the trash bag rain gear I would recomend at least some walmart rain gear for next ride.
I made it to my Dad's house in Manchester @ 6:50 and did not see another rain drop on my trip back to Haverhill.
Thanks to everyone who came today. I hope to see you all again ripping it up:-) Next time we will try to keep the rain at home.

It was a sick ride I'm going to upload some pics now. Little soggy but as ninjajim mentioned our sporty trash bags helped. Me and Jamie got a little lost and took the scenic route home lol but we made it
I did 474miles round trip lol
the bike is now 2 and 1/2 months old and at 5000 miles

Dan,
I'm glad you guys had a good time. I know the slab ride SUCKS for you guys.. and I appreciate you coming out!! THe rain can make for some funny moments to recall for sure... I dont mind it that much, but with a group that size we probably made the right choice in ducking out east when the storms rolled in!!!
HOpe to see you again.. if not on the road for a cold brew!
Fantastic ride.....except for the wet roads
I cant imagine how much more fun those roads would have been on a clear, warm day with dry roads.
Ofcourse....the ride to Mt. Washington need not be mentioned here....its that good...an experience to remember and do again and againI especially enjoyed riding in the clouds....with almost zero visibility!!!
I also liked Rte 113 through a forest in Maine.....cant believe that small road is a state highway.
@ Chris, Stiggy, Jim ...thank you for organizing the ride.
Everybody....it was nice meeting you all...hope to catch you all again in the next ride.
And yeah....everyone who brought a cam today.....please please post all the pics here....
Finally....here are the only 3 pics taken from my crappy cell phone.....enjoy them till the good ones are posted
In the background is a cloud ....this must be around 4000ft on the way to the summit.
This was while going up....the view was superb...
On the way back....@ ~5000ft

3rd pic was at the top . . . lots of visibility
4 pic . . . . there were quite a few of us
5 pic leaving to head down the MTn
Here are some of the pics I got.
1. Gettin' ready for HMR
2. The gixxers (mine in front of course)
3. Bikes at the summit
4. The wonderful visibility at the summit...I really like this pic
5. Scenic stop for the group shot (my camera was not used for the group shot)
looked like a fun trip, hopefully soon i'll get some more mileage under my belt so i can keep up with you guys.
Seriously, once we hit the summit of mt. washington I found the parking lot by dumb luck. At that point I was following the yellow line, and I could only see about 8' (if that) of it in front of me. Jim and I blasted down the auto road when it cleared on the way down. Seriously we saw 60mph+ on the way down.....just don't look over the edge! lol
Great riding with everyone!
