We went by the track this past Friday (Mar. 4). The snow they're talking about removing was NOT from the track surface, rather property AROUND the track. From our vantage point, there's been NO snow removal from the racing surface itself. But we also lost about 2' of base this weekend, at least...

May 2002. I remember this only because I had just graduated college and moved back up north, and I was like "fuck this this, snow in May? I'm going back to VA".

Was that the first year of NESR?

No. It was in it's infancy though. At that time it was about a year old...

I'm not surprised. The track pavement is much too expensive to plow with conventional methods. I'm just happy to see the stuff going away.

FWIW Advance Auto is running a special on 4 quarts of synthetic motorcycle oil and a filter for $39.99.

i'd be interested to know the answer too...i'm thinking at this point round 1 will be canceled, rescheduled or shitty conditions.

who knows...it's supposed to be in the low 50's high 40's all next week....maybe it'll all melt in enough time and the cars that run the track will clean it up for us a bit.

either way, i'll be there cause i've got peoples transponders...lol

I'm in Concord - about 15 mins from the track.
Snowed ALL DAY here today, with 6-12" originally predicted for the state - with no accumulation at my house. Although I know at the seacoast, folks woke up to about 8" on the ground. The ground is just to warm for it to stick for any real length of time.

And with the next 5 days going to be 48, 47, 42, 57 and 48 degrees, with both rain and sunshine, I seriously doubt you'll find ANY snow on the ground at the track by mid week - much less by the first race weekend.

I am SOOOO ready for spring!!

I remember it well, slush puddles in T1, 2, 11 & 12.... rain tires double as snow tires, did you know that?
