I've been rolling around in a new lucid sapphire the past week or so. I feel like this thing could reverse the earths rotation. Not a truck but I feel it fits in this thread.
And in response to something that went on earlier in this thread this thing ain't cheap to charge. Nearly $80 to lvl 3 it just about every day. I don't have enough home time to fully charge it on the cheaper home charger.
Congrats on the Lucid. If you can afford the sapphire, you can afford to get an electrician to install an 80A EVSE to recharge it. Especially if you're doing level 3 daily, that's a very easy math problem.
I can't do the level 3 at one of my houses. It's all solar, the system can't support it. Even level two is going to be a challenge.
Besides, charging isn't really a home problem, it's a travel problem. Where I sit right now it's 26 miles to the closest level 3 charger. Lots of lvl 2 around but not many lvl 3. I have free charging on energize America chargers so those are the ones I look for mostly but those are even further apart. I'm essentially planning longer trips around chargers which I don't love.
80A EVSE is still at level 2. Call around, I'm sure it can be done but it won't be a cookie-cutter install for any electrician. You will probably need a new drop and a new panel at the very minimum.
Good to know. I'm not sure I will be keeping it though. I have a week to decide and today it goes back to lucid to see if they fix or adjust some of my complaints. For a quarter million dollars I'm expecting some basic things like functioning wipers and a decent stereo. I have a list of complaints that I think are reasonable, we will see if they can fix them with software, new parts or not at all.

The lucid was something I had been toying with for a while. I was taking random dates to Natick just to force them into checking out lucids with me. Ending federal rebates spurred me into action. The sapphire version was a splurge but it's the only model I could get from a dealership that would let me return it if I didn't like it after a week of driving. That week ends tomorrow for me. It doesn't sound like lucid can do anything about the majority of my complaints either. Some are minor and others are far more serious. And they aren't specific to the sapphire either, the base model has them as well so the brand is probably a no go for me.
And for the record no one needs 1234hp in a car. It actually hurts to hit that power. Makes me a little ill. And my last car was a gt500 with about 800hp. Completely different animals.
Serious complaints are lemons. The state has your back on that. Rivians have been sent back to the factory under the lemon law after they could not be fixed.

You can't do it smoothly, you need a good amount of throttle to break free of the system. It's a pain and clunky when driving forward but it's just a nightmare in reverse. Try backing into a tight space where every throttle input ends with the ebrake being pulled and you have to goose it to get them to release. Not fun.
And why to go in reverse to I have to put it in drive first then select reverse in the computer. I should just be able to go in reverse.
Rear view mirror cams that activate every time you put it in reverse, activate turn signals or have someone approaching too close to the car? Why are the screens hidden directly behind the steering wheel where your hand hood humps are so you can't actually see what they are displaying? You have nearly 3 ft of digital screen behind the wheel and they choose to put those views in the area you can't see.
My list goes on but it's my list. Many are happy with how the car works but looking on the forums plenty of people don't like it

Haha, nah. I think I'm going to stick with the Slate for now even though I'm becoming less and less impressed with it. I don't think they will be able to make it to market but we shall see. The short range of the base model is going to become more and more of an issue as the release draws near. If I learned anything from that lucid it's that once my range dropped into the double digits I was hard on the hunt for a fast charger. Given the Slate will only have 150ish mile range that's going to be a tough sell to people that are familiar with the charging network around them. I only know of two (2) fast chargers within 15 miles of my house and those are always full.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience on Polestar? With lucid out of the running for me I finally broke down and tried Polestar. We really. Really liked the 2. It drives so much better than the lucid. For sure it has its quirks which we may not be able to come to terms with fully but as far as driving experience goes it's perfect for us.
We tried the 3 and both hated it. The 4 was a nightmare I refused to test drive. I can't believe someone thought it was a good idea to make that but tarriffs forced it upon us, or so polestar says.

Yeah, I watch him a lot. He wrecks cars though so can't really be trusted. I appreciate his thoughts and technically experience but he is a terrible driver. He wrecked that polestar about a year after he owned it then again about a year later. Now that he is out of warranty he just deals with suspension issues and brake problems he probably created.
