there's a lot of sources of info out there and they can contradict each other so it's tough to know what's true...most people don't have time to dig into each subject thoroughly enough to make a determination (myself obviously included)...so i tend to err on side of caution and not be an early adopter if it's an easy move to make...like trying not to eat things without a lot of ingredients that i can't pronounce, removing teflon coated pans from the house, not wearing synthetic materials directly on my skin if i can avoid it, moving the wifi away from bedrooms, charging cell phones in another room than i sleep in, talking on speakerphone when i can, not taking an experimental injection (glad i didn't follow the "science/experts" on that one), etc.

I had thought the EREV Ram would be my next truck, but Mrs LuvDog has been driving a PHEV for 2 years now.
It really works well for her and her. I'm thinking of going that way next... and most likely leasing - which I have never done before in my life.
I think EV tech is changing quickly enough that it may not make sense to buy at this point.
I'm becoming more and more of a skeptic of the Slate trucks. When I reserved them I loved the idea and still do. But as I talk to them and see the vehicles I'm seeing what was a good idea and plan turn into something that more resembles catering to the few and making choices just to be different, not necessarily better. Plus I'm skeptical they can make it into production. They are less than a year away from production and I have yet to see one drive in person or even be able to sit in other than a few YouTube videos. Every time I go to one of there events the truck is pushed around and you aren't allowed inside of it. The tello truck is at least a year out and you can get rides in them and crawl all around to your heart's content.
Pretty sure old polestar is where I want to be but tarriffs killed off the only model I liked and replaced it with something, different.
I know you've mentioned various electric vehicles of extremely different classes that you have been considering, what are you looking for in this electric vehicle? Understanding you have a fleet of vehicles, your search from $30k pick up to a $200k+ super sedan/SUV is unique.
I'm sure I haven't done the amount or depth of research you have, but of the e-vehicles i've researched / considered the new Macans are in another league as far as driving dynamics and e-power integration, providing a "normal" feel. I believe that was an issue you mentioned in the Lucid...
My hold up at this point is Porsches current about face / Uturn on E vehicles, they have already decided that the 100% electric future of the Cayman, Boxster & Macan is over before it began. They are planning / working on retro fitting ICE into the electric chassis.

What I really want in an EV is a simple system. The Slate comes close to that as of right now but that may change. I really don't want one that coupled to the manufacturer but most, if not all, are. Perhaps there are some that aren't but idk. I've looked at the Porsche line up but I'm not giving them my money. I gave absolutely no doubt any car I buy from them will be a slave to them, just like an audi. And I'm talking a deep slave too. You can fix nothing on your own. At least with other brands you can do some yourself.
Lucid was a bit of crack attack. When they first came out I really wanted one but I wasn't about to buy a rolling prototype so I took the money and bought stock in the company. When I thought the bugs had been worked out I went and got one. The Sapphire was offered as a satisfactory guaranteed car and the other models were you buy it, you own it. That's mainly why I got it. But I hated it so back it went. Base lucid cars were the same.
I recently tried a polestar. I really liked the polestar 2 model but tarriffs killed it so you can only buy used which is fine. The problem i have with polestar is the idiotic design choices of the interior and the poor option packages. I simply can't buy the trim package I would want and what I can buy I don't want. The other models are garbage as far as I'm concerned. So no polestar for me.
If Elon wasn't such a Nazi I would probably have bought a Tesla but he will never ever get.my money.
The closest thing to Tesla is Rivian and Lucid. Everyone else including Polestar and GM are at least two generations behind Tesla. GM is the better brand at this point. They're finally wearing mature, big boy pants with EVs. If you tried the rest, then test a 2026 Cadillac Optiq. That's the only thing you've left out. If you're worried about simple repairs, you can order parts from any GM dealership and DIY.
R2 went into production. RIVN stock up bigly past 6 weeks or so.
I'm told they'll put launch mode in my Rivian s00n. I won't be able to work on all of it, but there are big perks when getting a complicated EV.
