Re: Here comes the electric pickup

I'm in Maine now. I assume the incentives are even better here. Screen name won't make sense ever again.

Zero point zero zero intrest in a Ram. I've tried to get my head to go Jeep a couple times as I think a MT is still an option over there. But I don't have much interest in another half-ton unless it is a dirt cheap used and abused reg-cab beater. Even that.
I can't believe we are now saying $45k is "reasonable"!!

Wife crapped all over the tacoma idea pretty fast. Sold me on a FWD econobox with snow tires instead. You all would like her.

Thanks for the links purple. I remember seeing your post about the "store" and having no idea wtf you were on about. I am not paying much attention to rivian or any of the market, honestly.

Point me at the $50k Lighting.. Is that a thing? I'd written the Lightning off as insane thinking it is a waste for me to own that much battery given my use. But now I see the Rivian batteries are the same size. Splains the price tags.

Probably keeping the shitbox I have and a trailer. Especially for this first winter here in Maine.

Imperial Ford is advertising this truck for $51,388. They are probably counting the $7500 EV Rebate in that price, but you'd need to check with them to be sure. The end of the best deals I saw recently were in May, where Ford was kicking in $7500 of dealer cash in addition to any rebates. I had a "Special Offer" incentive from Ford for preordering my truck, that was worth an extra $7,000 at the time, but those incentives are long gone. Still. its a lot of truck for the money.

Wait, who let you into Maine?! Now we're going to have to re-paint the sign on the interstate and update the population from '5' to '6-ish'?

There's always a year end sales push at dealerships. The best deals are between Christmas and New Years.

I'm glad to see people wrapping them. I remember when I first saw a DeLorean. I thought it was neat at first, but I thought it would be even better in gloss black. If I had gotten one back then, I would have painted it. Now wraps are so convenient.

Volvo pulling out of 100% electric and now going 90% electric by 2030.
OK, makes sense, if they made a sports car or something on the best-selling list like Camry. This doesn't make any sense at all. Their best selling car is a cross-over hybrid. EVERYONE makes those.

    1 9 60 rule or something?

For every BEV you could make 9 PHEV and 60 HEVs.

BEVS are political, not necessarily economical from every perspective.

Yuuuup... 2nd time around with this. Don't charge, don't park near anything you care about, sit back and wait for a software update that may flag you for a battery replacement... I'm not super happy, currently my VIN doesn't flag on Mopar or NHTSA's recall search, but it took a good month for it to do so last time around too.

It really does seem like just quality control. Some people I know love their rams and jeeps and some people regret it. Most inconsistent brand perhaps?

Ford should have grabbed the Cummins. It would be over for everyone else.

My Jeep GC has been great, I still have the original battery in it and it turns 10 in April. Maybe it's the lifetime warranty I added on that makes it reliable

Yes, bought this when I was living in Medford driving 35k+ miles/yr between commute, weekend activities, and visiting family in IL. Now it's dragging my camper, my Mustang, or my Kendon almost every time I take it out and up some steep grades to boot.

EnelX just went under, and they're taking all their Juicebox smart chargers with them. In 9 days they all transform into dumb chargers.

Let's see a Telsa Turd power up after that.

Those things can't even power up after a car wash
