Given the amount he's towing, wonder how long until the rear end breaks off?

Packy is working with Elon on a snowplow option for the Cybertruck

That's really interesting. An all-electric snowplow is the only remaining frontier for EVs.
Time to whore myself out a bit.
Rivian is doing referrals for R1 Shop orders. These are 100% new, but not customized vehicles. There are usually a few dozen availabe at any given moment, and it changes daily. When someone uses my referral code during checkout of a R1 Shop vehicle and takes delivery we both get the following rewards:
750 points that can be redeemed in Gear Shop or R1 Shop to buy crap like cargo bars or tents. (1 point = 1 dollar, so $750 to buy stuff)
6 months of charging at Rivian Adventure Network sites

The Ford Ranger PHEV Seems Like The Electrified Truck You Actually Want
https://insideevs.com/news/733923/fo...-range-towing/
"The all-new Ford Ranger PHEV is only available for select global markets outside of North America. For customers in North America looking for a hybrid or electric truck, we currently offer Maverick Hybrid, F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid and F-150 Lightning."![]()
Basically a Jeep 4XE Gladiator with a slightly smaller battery and a better inverter for tools/etc. Curious if it's the same setup, two manual clutches sandwiching the motor/generator in place of the torque converter that Jeep uses? Meanwhile, no sign of the Ramcharger yet.
Kind of have the itch to get back into a 4WD pickup. Love the look of the newest Ranger. Always liked the Tacoma. Really want to row my own.. so Ford is out. Seems I can find a slightly used 6MT Tacoma if I try hard enough. Looks like $35-40k ish. $45k for brand new with the turbo 4 instead of the old V6.
What about electric? Rivian R1T, lowest spec, ~250 mile range "standard". First digit is '6' until you start digging, immediately works out to $72k. Dafuque. Roughly 2x the cost of a taco?! My from the hip fuel estimates are $10k x 5 years, $12k worst case. Multiply by ~125% or so to account for oil changes and such yucky ICE things.. that's still a hell of a lot cheaper.
Am I missing something?
I switched from 15+ years of manual Tacoma's (Gen 2 & Gen 3) to a Ford Lighting in '23. I'm still getting use to the size, parallel parking especially, but in every other way the Ford is a better truck. It's quiet, smooth, very comfortable, and there is so much room. However, even if you count in the incredibly low price I bought the vehicle for (less than $45k after rebates for the 1st one and just over $50k for a 2nd, yeah I bought two), the Ford is going to be a much more expensive purchase. I bought the '07 Taco in '09 for $14k, and sold it in 2019 for $10k, bought a 2019 Tacoma for $38k and sold it in 2023 for $32k. That's not gonna happen with any other truck.
When my first Ford Lightning was totaled by a falling tree less than 6 months into owning it, the insurance company was saying that I needed to take $20k in losses for depreciation. I ended up getting a lawyer involved, and mitigated most of the losses, but the depreciation on these vehicles is real.
fuck Tacomas, I'm ready to sell mine for scrap price just to get it out of my driveway

Did you price one out of the shop with my referral code, then minus $7500 fed rebate and whatever NH does on EV rebates? Check this inventory if you're serious. My referral link and code

I was floored seeing a 2025 Ram 1500 with the Hurricane I6 in Bighorn trim for $45k MSRP Friday. Doesn't satisfy the size or manual gearbox wants, but still floored me at being what appears to be a reasonable price for a truck?
