Extra brake dust? I replaced pads on my Highlander due to age, not wear. No reason an EV would be different on that front.
Tell me you've never owned an EV without telling me you've never owned an EV.

ahh good point...forgot about that
i've never owned an EV...now you know for sure...and i plan to be one of the very late adopters...with the rate at which the tech gets better and better i would rather wait till they dial it in vs be an early adopter

Yeah, but you aren't gonna do that in an urban environment with an ICE vehicle. I went through Camry brakes in short order driving in Boston. Same driving in the same area netted 100k on the hybrid. Drive one in the sticks or lots of highway mileage and 100k would be childs.play for a hybrid too. Some people double that easily.

i think i've been through 2 sets of pads on my car in 235k...but that's a lot of highway miles

wanna bet? you wouldn't want to be behind me, there is no wear holding a stop, take your foot off the gas. The E30 I bought in Boxford ,MA, I drove home with no brakes (65mi), my Tacoma, drove home from Conway with no brakes (55mi), they are really only to keep you from rolling backward when stopped on a hill. now I'm thinking of it, I drove a lot with inadequate brakes in my youth. We all did stoopid sh!t, I still do.
however at my current rate of driving 600 miles in 3 months between 2 vehicles, and add 2 motorcycles for summer months, I doubt I will ever put another 100k on a vehicle in my lifetime

I believe ya, several years ago, when I bought a copy of ACAD from MTS, my office techs got a week of training in the package, We went to their Woburn store for the first day, never again, we did the rest of the training at their Yarmouth ME store, a parking lot on the way in, 80mph bumper cars on the way out, Yarmouth was a longer drive, but vacant secondary roads for the most part, barely a quarter mile of Rt 1 traffic

Someone in Maine owns an R1S, sharp looking SUV save for the front, I'm still not sold on Rivian's front light/grill setup.
Yup, and I like it's aesthetics compared to the Rivian's front end.I love the Rivian look, save for that front headlight design. It just feels, cartoony compared to everything else?
I like the tic tac headlights.

Shocker. If you don't charge your vehicle it doesn't run on electricity.

I loved the Pacifica 'example'... yeah, 45F out, you don't put it in EV only mode, and are surprised that while calling for heat it does it's best to meet the demand. No shit Sherlock. There is a button if you want it to drive pure EV, you have to TELL it that, otherwise it acts as an optimized hybrid and will use gas where it makes sense, IE it's more efficient generating heat via combustion than it is running the giant resistive heater, particularly if you're calling for the defroster.
Direct result of vehicles having more intelligence then the average idiot trying to drive. Steering wheel holders and button pushers who haven't the slightest idea how anything actually works.
I'll never forget when the Prius first came out and one "superstar" salesman couldn't understand why the car wouldn't move when they ran out of gas![]()

very interested in this tech...

I don't like the idea of a 5-minute battery swap because they're huge, car wash sized machines. You can fit 20 superchargers in the same footprint. So wait 15 minutes in a line, plus 5 for the swap to get a full charge, or plug in and wait 20 minutes, while 19 others do the same.
