If GM had 6 quarters cash on hand, its bailout discussion time. Rivian has the same, but nah we won't even whisper anything about it. They will be fine though. Their biggest problems are growing pains. Just because Tesla pulled that trick off doesn't mean it should be repeated.

I'm super duper interested to see how Toyota will stay in the best selling list in the next 6 years. The hybrid writing is on the wall. Once the supercharger network is open to everyone this year, Toyota is on thin ICE.

Sales figures are bragging rights. High volume doesn't always equate to high profit. The EV market isn't materializing anywhere near as rapidly as the field of dreams envisioned. Sweden is the perfect example. A country that is extremely socially conscious and has a high growth rate in EV/PHEV, yet they still buy more plug in hybrids then BEVs by a wide margin.

dunno where you're getting that. we're talking america here, and YoY EV adoption is doing great. its not great in some big open states like Montana or Alaska, but its still selling there.

It was all actually posted earlier. EV adoption rate inAmerica is shit compared to the Nordic country's where it is highest. But even there. The vast majority of the vehicles in that stat are PHEVs and not full BEVs. So if a country that is far more supportive then the US in terms of wanting something like this is still dragging their feet it should be a canary in the coal mine.

YoY adoption in the US may be doing "great" in your eyes, but it's waaay below target for what was decreed. Sales going flat and manufacturers slowing production are telling a different story then the rainbow and unicorn narrative is painting in the media.

hybrids and plug in hybrids seem like the best choice right now...2 fuel sources are better than 1...smaller and cheaper battery pack to replace when the time comes...no need to rely on public chargers unless you don't have a place to plug in at home which means no long waits...cheaper buy in...no range anxiety...no having to plan a trip around charging stations...no worry about decreased range in the winter...less weight means your tires last longer...resale is better...less worry about moving around during power outages...can still feel partially fake green...i wonder if anyone has done a model 3 vs prius prime or regular prius comparison for cost over the life of the vehicles

All the pain points for adoption are almost gone. China is driving prices down so quickly that we've had to slap a 27% tariff on them. NACS will solve the range anxiety. Batteries are going solid state in a few years. Its all coming together. Go buy land in downtown Detroit if you think I'm wrong.

It might come as a surprise to some but there can be bad and good stuff that comes from the same country.

Their are grades of everything. I'm not expecting cheap EVs from China to be high grade. Considering most of the cost of EVs is in the battery that means they have to cheap out on plenty of other stuff to keep costs down or give up profit to gain market share.
