Re: Here comes the electric pickup

It all depends on how much it costs and how bad it compares to the others. It will sell, but it needs to be cheaper than the competition. Elon could also do something crazy like buy 2 Cybertrucks and get a Model 3 for 1/2 off.

Re: Here comes the electric pickup

They have the resources to make it a good vehicle, but the ego/obtuseness of Elon may end up getting in the way.

He oversold the world out of that truck at it's unveiling and seems unwilling to admit it won't be everything he promised.

Once the novelty of it wears off, it has to be a good vehicle for people to live with for years.

Sales selling something that can't be made? Shocker.

Re: Here comes the electric pickup

Toyota, the manufacturer selling the most cars in North America, will be switching all of its EVs to NACS and joining the Tesla Supercharger network in 2025. That's the NACS ball game. We're now in garbage time. VW and Stellantis still need to 'decide' if they want to make the switch, however the competition has already decided their fate for them.

That’s what a lot of the comments say.

Tesla's superchargers are the largest and most reliable network of chargers currently. They are also switching over to be able to accept credit card payment to comply with federal incentives.

It's not like manufacturers will need to pay Tesla for anything, unless they want to get into an "automatic billing" scenario.
Things are starting to get weird with NACS. As in oil and electricity shouldn't mix.

Did you expect big oil to just roll over and die? Oil companies will become "energy" companies and will still end up being the big boys on the block.

Re: Here comes the electric pickup

Oil companies are already big players in a well established energy market. That doesn't mean they will be able to reinvent the supercharger business model. It looks BP is doing some kind of experiment to see if they can prop up their busy locations when the gasoline market finally goes away.

Says right in the article. Existing right of ways. Basically, putting it where existing infrastructure already runs.

Probably just north of Littleton area by CT River since hydro Quebec already has significant assets there. That straddles NH/VT.

ok to run electricity underground from Canada, but not natural gas.

I really got thinking last night, if I were still working, how would an electric vehicle fit in with my line of work... then I got thinking of winter jobs when the crew goes back to the truck at lunch time to warm up with the truck idling to put out heat

Is the Fisker available on the road yet? Beautiful looking vehicles. The name will forever remind me of scissors, but that's their problem.

I recently found out that Lowell, MA has totally free 6kw Chargepoint stations scattered around the city. That's extremely progressive, even for MA.

Re: Here comes the electric pickup

Yup, there are a number of free ones near me. I've used them in the past.

Currently waiting on National Grid to get back to me on my application for solar, expected 10 day turnaround. If they give the go-ahead, I get to begin construction on my 10kW ground mount array, with another 10kW in panels/inverters waiting to go up as soon as the new 25kW net metering exemption rule goes into effect in MA hopefully early next year.

Then I'll have free driving, aside from tires. And free heat. And free hot water.
