It’s the owner of Iconic, Adam that owns an R7. Sadly, he is parting out the entire bike because they can’t get it to run correctly. It’ll be a great parts source for the R7 community, just sad to see a perfectly good bike be stripped and parted out.

That's pretty crazy! Wild card on who gets the bad part causing the problem?

Unfortunately, it is likely the owner/shops inability to learn how to properly tune it, that’s causing the problem. It takes a lot of time, and a lot of patience to get these to run properly. I’ve just recently learned how to start the tuning process and starting to get mine to run better.

Gave the R7 a bath, drained the fuel, and put it inside for the winter.
I picked up a YEC race/tuning manual and will study that over the winter so I can tune it once spring starts. I’ll need to take it to a dyno and have them set the CO2 settings to spec, then I should be able to adjust from there according to the manual.

Going to crank it over periodically to avoid the valve stems from sticking in the valve guides? Or is the planned duration of storage not long enough to be concerned with that?

Yes, it is 100% complete other than tuning. I’m still always on the lookout for OEM maintenance and wear items.. coil sticks, fuel pump, air filters, etc.

Everything I’ve been told, it’s the long term storage and use of fuel with ethanol in it. I’ve only used VP ethanol free fuel in it, and it’ll at least be ridden once a year in an effort to keep things fresh. I also put a plug in the exhaust when it sits, which is said to help reduce condensation. Fingers crossed I don’t have that issue again

All things considered, it’s probably a fair price given the rarity.

Quite the collection of R7-OW-02 parts for sale. Part of that collection I believe a woman had with a couple of the bikes?

That was Mary, she sold her complete bikes, and most all of her spare parts. I bought the airbox top, tail section, and chain guards from her.

Correct, it’s Adam’s bike. While it’s sad to see a complete R7 part out, it’s certainly helping the few that still have these bikes with missing parts.

looks like the others went for auction in the low 50k range. the R7 is my dream bike, but I'm not rich enough to bid $50k on a garage trophy

what did you spend on the valves you had made? almost could have just grabbed this for the valves, had you known this was coming on auction

What killed me with the valve issue, was the labor costs to have them installed. It was $2500 to have the valves made, $5000 in labor to remove the engine, disassemble it, check specs and put everything back together.
This engine that is (was) available, is a no brainer long term investment. I offered them $6,500 for it, they excepted the offer.

Razee’s in North Kingstown did the work. I normally wouldn’t use a dealer for something like this, but I knew the service manager at the time and he assured me the tech that he would give the project to, was meticulous enough to satisfy how fussy I am.. lol
