For a first bike, I’d lean to something a little more modern. The older bikes are cool and all, but it will be quirky at times, which could be intimidating for a new rider.

I just helped a friend get his first bike, found a 2019 Honda CB300 with 1,100 miles on it for $3,000, and saw several clean used comparable sized bikes in the $3-4k range

She's back to the newer Rebels, Bolts & Vulcans. Nothing smaller than a 500. She's driving me nuckin' futz!

It's terrible in a gsxr 250 way. Looks decent but is very agriculture in the motor department. First gear is super low so you can take off loaded with a pile of family members hanging on. Barely cracks 60 on the highway which is a place it should never go. A ninja 250 is nearly twice as powerful.

Maybe that's why I never heard of it.

I'm happy with my Ninja 250. All good, needs nothing.

Plus I recently bought my friend's Yamaha SRX250, he offered it to me at half what he had into it, so I couldn't refuse. It's ready to ride now, once we get past Death Valley Days, that is.
