No truck bro will be buying a Rivian because it's just "not in your face" like this abomination and certainly doesn't stir up these discussions.

They will get plenty of ways of pissing off the libs by raising it and getting even worse range and taking up their charging stations without breaking any sort of policies. Added bonus taking up like 4 charging spots and parking 4 across when towing as they certainly won't be considerate and unhook and then rehook for every charge.

I would absolutely say you do not know any diesel bros. I know a bunch and unless ICE vehicles are abolished, they will not own an EV. Like ever. It is an afront to their perceived masculinity. Hard stop.

If it was in the budget I'd actually be a buyer for one probably. It does everything I need pretty well as I've never had a need for crazy towing. 5k max and occasional bed use other wise just a DD.

That video was some pretty strong marketing. Not sure I'm ready for steering-by-wire, especially if engineered by Tesla. There are lots of ways to screw that up, and it's really a different animal than electronic throttle control or most brake-by-wire systems. I hope NHTSA didn't rubber stamp it like they did the autopilot system.

No, but the automotive application is. I doubt the same standards apply to the auto industry that aviation is subjected too for example.

My guess is that it's an apples and oranges comparison when you consider redundancy requirements, component quality etc.....

I don't know what the aviation grade is for sensors but according to the video they use two or three sensors for redundancy on some systems with third acting a tie breaker in situations of disagreement.

I do wish interior was more truck like than just Tesla like I'll say that.

Aviation has multiple systems to do the same thing, not just sensors. The A320 mentioned also has a mechanical backup system if the FCC's all crash. An A380 has 5 computers for flight controls where only one is needed.

Tesla having 3 sensors and saying don't worry, we got this, is kinda like saying we're in a monsoon, but this umbrella will keep you dry.

It might be much ado about nothing, but Tesla doesn't have the best track record when it comes to claims about their software, or shatterproof glass for that matter.

As a shareholder, I hope they kill it with this thing and don't end up killing people left and right. The feds certainly seem to treat the company differently then they do other manufacturers.

Robotic total stations use RF to turn the instrument, with precisions down to 0.1" seconds or arc (I had a 2"second instrument), I know it's pears to bananas. That technology has been out there for surveyors for nearly 40 years

ICE trucks absolutely need to be worried about meeting Tesla's future. Diesel towing and plowing is the only thing they can claim ICE does better. Those are the last 2 nails Tesla needs to drive into the ICE truck casket.

On their own chart... Tesla being an all electric car brand is above big 3 Chevy, Ford and Dodge not to mention Chrysler is almost last.

So if EVs are sooo bad, how bad are domestics to still rate higher than them?

Toyota is no surprise. When you use 10 year old technology that's been proven it will likely be reliable. Trick is convincing buyers to pay top dollar for a new car with 10 year old tech.
