Voting is not a right. It is not held by all adult humans equally without qualification. Voting is a privilege of citizenship; you must qualify for it in a particular time and place, and therefore it cannot be a right.
And those limited access freeways that do not allow you to enter them on foot, horse, or any vehicle that doesn't require a license to operate? You keep dancing around saying that somehow something can be a right but you still need permission to do it, as if that makes any sense.

it is held by all american citizens over the age of 18 that are not felons. its a right. its brought up several times in the constitution. its a right as a US citizen. unless of course youve somehow changed the context and we are off US rights and onto human rights all of the sudden
oh, im so fucking sorry you cant use your dog sled on the freeway because of safety issues. use your giant fucking brain. would you want people just walking and riding their bikes on the highway? or riding a horse for that matter? FFS now youre just being difficult, obtuse and just a general prick. youre probably one of those dickheads that camps out in the left lane not passing because you "have the right to drive in any lane you want". :middlefinger:

Bolded parts are the relevant ones that show that voting is not an unqualified right possessed by all adult humans, but a privilege of citizenship. Just like I said. We never were on "US rights"; there is no such thing. Actual rights are inherent and do not depend on your government, where you live, and so on.
<rolleyes> I did not say that I wanted to used the freeway in an unsafe vehicle for the purpose. My point was that YOU claimed that it was a right to use public roads but not to use licensed vehicles, and that this was supported by the ability to use public roads in unlicensed vehicles. I was refuting your point by noting a very large class of roads which it is illegal to use in unlicensed vehicles at all, and thus your claim to have the right to use the roads but not to drive is shown to not be the case -- that on these roads if you don't have a drivers license you may not travel by yourself.
Sheesh.

no no no...we were ALL on US rights. the right to vote, the right to posses a firearm the right to travel on public roads. these should have all been clues to you. unbeknownst to the rest of us, you were on some sort of other human right tangent.
had i known that, this conversation couldve ended days ago. there IS such a thing as US citizen rights. thats why the US Constitution has a Bill of Rights. its expressly what its for...you know what...

Bottom line: PhilB thinks it's his right to use any publicly funded road any time he wants, even when the gov't deems unsafe to use.
Phil.... please lemme know if you ever chose to exercise your "right" to drive off the nearest uncompleted bridge.![]()

I was going to make breakfast sandwiches this morning but I'm out of sliced cheese. Not sure if shredded will do.

there is no right to pre-sliced cheese, I've seen a document that was retrieved from a shredder and tapped back together, not sure if I'd try to make a slice of cheese out of a pile of shredded cheese, I usually grab a knife and cut a slice off from a block of aged cheddar

I like the cheddar blend. It melts very well for me. Smothered over scrambled with sausage this morning.

You're wrong. Incredibly wrong. I can't wait to spend 17 posts telling you how wrong you are, and why I'm right.
that's freekin gross, sounds like that stuff that is on a biscuit with sausage egg and cheese from McDonalds ya can't tell if its their idea of cheese or is it a butter substitute saturated on the biscuit. and gives ya the hershey squirts 10 minutes after you eat it
I didn't realize that separating had anything to so with melting other than as it melts it separates, I will keep an eye out for that I never knew that fake cheese didn't separate, I'm pretty much and aged cheddar snob

American cheese is typically cheddar or Colby with emulsifiers added to aid in melting. It is cheese. It is not fake.
That's like calling honey mustard dressing or mayonnaise fake. They both require emulsifiers to exist for any length of time required to utilize them. All the emulsifier does is allow the fat and water molecules to stay stuck together longer than they normally would.

Fail.
The right to vote isn't a right *because* it depends on where you are and your citizenship status.
The right to keep and bear arms is a universal right of humans.
The right to travel is a universal right of humans.
The rights to life, liberty, and property are a universal rights of humans.
The U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, any and all other documents do NOT give anyone any rights; rights are things we have as humans.
The best any of those documents can do is to guarantee a respect for those rights, and that's what the Bill of Rights does.
It does not create any rights. It does not bestow any rights. It does not create some new special class of "American rights" that is different from the rights of non-American humans.
It prohibits the U.S. government from violating people's pre-existing rights, for any humans under its jurisdiction for any reason.
This is why your arguments have been inconsistent and have made no sense -- you are trying to argue about what is and isn't a right, without understanding what a right is.

Bottom line: PhilB thinks it's anyone's right to make his own choices about his own life, on any subject whatsoever, as long as he doesn't violate someone else's equal rights in the process. If the government decides something is unsafe, that's information, and it may be wise to take it into account. I made no objection at all against NH advising people to stay off the roads for safety reasons, and indeed, I stayed home that day. What I object to is coercion, to the government deciding that they are going to hurt anyone who doesn't abide by their advice. That's force; that's violence; that's morally wrong.
