I've got about 12-14" a little northeast of Manchester. Even with all the trees, it's been drifting too. It's still snowing but the winds have died down.

My mother out in the Berkshire's only got 3-4".

Andover, MA. The intake is at 23" and it was buried under the snow. Added several more inches since that pic was taken as well.

MAYBE a foot, but doubt it.

Total effort to plow, snowblow and shovel everything: 1 hour. And that's with using a 6' back blade on a little tractor. It was pushing it all over the place.

The real shitty part is that I gotta put my cat down but the vet is closed.

    Sorry about your cat.

News is saying we got 33, I believe it. Tough to tell, lots of drifting but everything I hit with the snow blower was over the intake, some drifts well over my waist.

It continued to snow for a good portion of the night and I ended up with 20" according to the yard stick. 1/4 of the way through snow blowing the driveway, I snapped a drive belt on the snow blower and of course I don't have a spare on hand.

    Re: Rant: TV Weather reports

Boston's official total was 24.9". So this time the TV weather folks got it largely correct.

Interesting factoid. One of the reasons the Blizzard of '78 was so bad was that about 10 days earlier the region received a big storm and was still digging out in Boston (where there is literally no place to put all the snow) when the Feb 6th storm hit. So stay tuned!

16"-17" here, power was out about an hour and a half yesterday morning about 6am right when I got up to put wood in the furnace, I had the generator set to go, turn switch to on, set choke, one pull, it was running, released the choke and flipped my 100amp switch, stretched a 100 ft extension cord to the Rinnai and wifi in my office.

Only got 10-12" just north of Concord. Went skiing at Gunstock yesterday, not too bad, but the wind swept all of the good stuff away. Well worth the $25.

About 24 inches in North Andover. Apartment life is nice, but I still spent nearly three hours shoveling cars and helping neighbors.

id say we got at least 2ft. the low spots were 18-20", drifts were 4+ft in spots. then we got another 4-6" overnight

boo hoo, you think youre the only one that has to use PTO? amanda wont even get paid because she IS essential personnel but i told her i didnt want her driving 50 miles to work at the height of the blizzard, risk getting stuck at work if her relief didnt show up and then the kicker was she woke up sick on Wed so even if it wasnt snowing she wouldnt have gone in. but since she didnt go in, she wont get paid at all.

I prefer a state that treats people more like adults, to one that treats everyone like children. Now it might be reasonable to set it up like some of the parks do -- you're free to do what you want, but if we have to rescue you, you'll pay the costs. That would be fair and make sense.

you should really get that record looked at.

lets add or alter that just a little. car spins out and gets stuck. another car or 2 crash into it because visibility is low. now the road is blocked. emergency crews have to drive out to the scene as do tow trucks. traffic starts to slow or stop in that area. takes about an hour for crews to clear the scene and since its snowing at 4-5" an hour and the road hasnt been plowed, now everyone who was waiting for the scene to be cleared is stuck. you know, kinda like what happened in Chicago a few years ago.

heard that a tree branch fell and took out a feed line. 7000 people lost power. they said they had it back in like an hour or so though

bottom line is, you all want to think that the driving ban is there to protect you from yourself. well, youre only partially right. weve all been stuck behind someone going 10-15 UNDER the limit because SNOW OMG. and weve all said to ourselves or out loud "if youre too scared to drive in this then stay home". those people NEED someone to tell them to stay home. in such poor driving conditions, im sure that fire/police/medical personnel great appreciate the clear roads without having to navigate through a bunch of retards. and lastly plow trucks, its SOOOOO much easier to clean up this kind of mess without any traffic. both streets and private. do you know what a pain in the dick it is to plow a parking lot when there is a constant flow of traffic coming in and out and they are all completely oblivious to the fact that you are trying to move 17 yards of snow across a parking lot? highway plows can run 2-3+ wide to clear the whole roadway without having 1500 aggravated drivers lined up behind them going 35 on the highway.
so get off your "you cant tell me what to do", "save me from myself", "deeeerrr driving ban" high horse. if you NEED to go out then go out FFS, but really why would you need to? unless youre an ill prepared imbecile and even then i dont know WHERE youre gonna go since just about everything is closed. maybe you crave old gas station hot dogs, IDK.
