I was home until mid-morning today. To hear the tv weathercasters, you'd think something was up. They had weather maps, radar images, and reporters interviewing emergency services people and a guy in a town that had plow trucks.
What is the merciless, killer storm they were talking about? The NOAA report for Boston.
Really?A chance of snow, mainly before 5pm. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 32. West wind around 11 mph.
Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
P.S. Sorry this not very epic on the rant scale, but look what I had to work with!

Katrina.
They're making up for not hyping that shit up.
And whothefuck sits around watching the news until midday? That's where you really went wrong.

Looks like the weather report has him pretty concerned as well.
Cute little guy....
Weather for Keene showed 10% chance of precip all day, until about an hour ago when it jumped to 40% after it had been snowing for about 2 hours.

They do it every first major storm. They tell us the snowpocalypse is coming, we're all gonna die.
Maybe it has to do with how reporters are often from other parts of the country? We've got some recently imported asshole from Sunnyside, FL telling us how bad the snow's going to be? When they start crying about the impending doom during February, I actually start caring. By caring, I mean charge up my batteries and make sure my shovel is fully operational. Visual inspection only.
You're not the only one. And then those who easily get wound up by whatever the news is squawking about scare everyone else by talking about it in a panic-y, frantic way. "You got your generator charged up? Those 2inches are going to be turrrrable. I've got my bathtub full of water, and I cleared out the shelves at Shaws. You know, in the blizzard of 78...."

Maybe with all your vast knowledge of knowing a lot, what seems like about everything, you should learn to predict your own weather. That's what I do!![]()

He's the level-headed one, often explains what three different models are predicting and why he forecasts as he does.
And don't believe everything you think.
Newscasters back on high alert for three days leading up to what could be 3" of snow in Boston falling on a weekend evening. So skawy!

We have at least one Boston TV weather man as a member here. :-)

my local forcast for this Sunday, what is "moderate snow accumulation" sounds like a way for the forcaster to cover his assSUNDAY
Snow...mainly in the morning. Additional moderate snow accumulation. Highs in the lower 20s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph... becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of snow near 100 percent. Wind chill values as low as 4 below in the morning.

We've been getting dusted all day. 1-2inches expected... over a 10hour period.
And they let out some schools and dismissed state employees. Texas could have handled this "storm" better. I'm really in disbelief.

I'm down to one bag of salt. Everyplace in the area has been sold out since the first snow, it seems. So now I'm like "It's not that slippery......
Boston officially got 6.4" - a record. 11.4" season to date. Worcester 18".
